Residency Renewal

Hello Everyone :)

I have looked through this forum but have not been able to find the answer (or was not thorough enough with apologies). My residency expires mid-May and I have the following questions:

1) I need to be abroad towards end of May and need to get my residency in order before then. Is it possible to have it renewed couple months before expiration date?

2) If above is not possible, when can I start and when will I get my renewed residence card?

3) Even for renewing, do I need all the documents which were required 5 years ago? i.e. comprehensive health insurance or certificate of entitlement

4) Other than Form CEA, does ID 1A and ID 2 need to be submitted again?

Thank you for your help!

When we applied to renew ours we had to take all the information that was needed with the original
one, it’s as if you have never had one before, you should be able to apply a couple of weeks before it
expires and how long it will take probably a few weeks.

Of course a topic for everyone who applies for a residence card. It is true a renewal is the same procedure than the first time application. Right now it takes 8 weeks from the day of application until the new residence card is sent to the applicant.
In my case I applied in November and received the new card at the end of January.

Thank you for your helpful replies!

I wish these answers were made very clear on the website itself.

One of the reasons the cards  are taking a couple of months is that so many cards expired because of the five years since they were introduced.
