Looking for Home/Flat need suggestion

General advice.

Avoid anything in US $ - They'll be looking for a mug with no idea of local prices.

Remember the locals will be the majority of the housing market.
Look at local salaries and ask if they could afford it. If not, it's probably a stupid price.

Wander around and avoid casual agents. They'll add a nice percentage for themselves.

I've just got a 4 bed in a security patrolled estate (BSD) for 24 million/year.

I understand you're looking for a place in the centre/South of Jakarta.
I've been there but not really looked around much so I can't help directly.
Another option, if your willing to be stuck to train times, is get a place down the line from the centre. Much cheaper outside the centre and the AC trains aren't bad.
The local non AC trains are terrible. I've used them (just for the experience) and, believe me, you won't like them.

Hmm, i don't think i have proper time for now to help you find a house or flat, but i can give price opinion whether it's too high or not if you got any house offering. For 30 minutes to your office i'll recommend Cipete, Fatmawati, Blok A, Cilandak, Ampera (Kemang), Darmawangsa, Wijaya. Let me check later when i'm not tight in schedule.
