Hello everyone,

Moving abroad can be particularly hard on children. For any parent planning a move to the United Arab Emirates, it is of utmost importance to make sure they do everything in their power to make sure their children’s transition is as smooth as possible. Would you be able to give a few tips to parents planning to move to the United Arab Emirates by answering the following questions on children integration?

What does one need to factor in when choosing a new school for their children in the United Arab Emirates?

How does one prepare their children for the transition into a new school in the United Arab Emirates?

How does one help their children integrate into their new school? Any tips to help a child transitioning into a completely different new program or curriculum?

Is there an age period during which a child really should change schools?

What are the signs that a child is having trouble transitioning into their new school?

Tell us how it went for your child in the United Arab Emirates.

Please share your experience,

Bhavna

Hi Bhavna,

I relocated to UAE 2 years back and to be honest except for Arabic language , my son did not had much difficulties in adjusting to the current situations and making few friends in his school bus group. He was in British curriculum before and opted for CBSE after few suggestions from friends staying in UAE for years.
But i didnt find the CBSE very encouraging although my son is in grade 4 but maybe i was having very expectations.
Most things will depend on the age of child and their nature of adapting to the new situations , i would advise to opt for either IB or British curriculum.

It is usually a smooth transition if your child is enrolled in the same curriculum.
The KHDA website provides you the ratings as well as all the information you need to make the decision while selecting the right school. There are websites which tell you all the schools which are following the curriculum or fee structure that suits you. My kids had no issues and loved their new school.
