If you are getting lost in Quy Nhon , may I suggest that you avoid HCMC at all costs.
How did your search for black coffee with no cream or sugar go? I forgot to mention that the "o" in đường (sugar) is somewhat silent or maybe even doubled to the oo sound at least to western ears, although I am sure it is heard clearly by any Vietnamese. Using English spelling conventions, It might be described as "doong" rather than "dung." Of course this goes back to why Vietnamese don't understand their own language when we speak it as we generally mess it up.
I studied Vietnamese at the DLIWC, at the Presidio, Monterey, California, in 1969, prior to spending a year in country - with the 3/26th Marines, and the 3/1 Marines, India Company, in a C.U.P.P. Unit in a village in Hoa Lac (not sure of the spelling). Sometimes I would go on escort with the Navy Corpsman through the village to treat sick people. I translated for him.
So I think I can figure out how to say "sugar" without your advice.
I have no intention of going to Saigon except to get my passport renewed at the U.S. Embassy.
May I suggest to you to re-read the posting guidelines - and save the sarcasm for your friends.
I guess Ocean Beach will block or edit out this Post anyway - only the people who run the Forum get to insult people .

Rather touchy aren't we. I sincerely offered a good faith suggestion based on your stated inability to be able to buy black hot coffee and this is what I get?

? ? ?
I'm not an admin, so I can't do anything to anyone else's posts except quote them, report them or ignore them.
If you are talking about me blocking you from sending me PRIVATE messages, I explained that I don't like to use the private message system on this site for recurring communication, AND, since we have met face-to-face, we can use our phones or one of several messaging apps to stay connected with each other here in Quy Nhơn.
I'm waiting for you to take me up on that offer, as well as my invitation to get together at my rooftop "cafe/bar" someday.
It was great to run into you last week.
I hope that keeps happening.
Cheers!

Where did I get the impression you were ADMIN?
Reading old Posts I have seen that some people have complained that the people who make this Forum happen do edit out Posts and leave the title but not the body of the article and reserve the right to arbitrarily decide what readers should get to read..
I had seen some Posts by you where you asked (not quoting exactly here) 'how could "we" answer you if you don't tell us what lifestyle you want to live?';
and that you have to take care of the FNG's;
and you provided Links to websites in answer to some questions,
and sprinkle those cute emojis or whatever they are - those moving images - among comments like; ' ...you found the Highland, I guess there is hope for you..' (not your exact words).
And your comment that you would block Private Messages from me - and then the Posts by me were blanked out .....
Yes, I thought you were the Big Dog on the Forum and you could do WTF you wanted.
Looks like I was off-base.
I re-read the message that you don't want to discuss some issues in the public forum and it makes sense to me.
In any case I am closing down this site - to me. ie. deleting it from my Bookmarks.
Not making any friends here and I don't need the static.

Maybe a site for sensitive people would suit you better.
It's a public forum, what do you expect, hugs and kisses?
Why didn't you quote the whole Post instead of just the one paragraph?
As far as coffee is concerned - I really find it hard to believe that people are tripping on my difficulty in getting a cup of coffee I like in this town. For that matter I have a hard time getting a cup of coffee at Starbuck's in the U.S. - and you know that is not a language barrier issue; it is about the employees not wanting to change their routine - serving concoctions of sugar and stuff that they went to coffee college to learn and not having any respect for an old fkr who stepped out of a time warp.
But really, that is beside the point: I threw out a comment about coffee like people throw out a conversation gambit - like "What time does it rain here every day." The point being: "This is me." People that take such things seriously - well, I don't care to talk to them.
I am not being sarcastic when I say that I would ask a Vietnamese - not an English teacher - how to say a Vietnamese word.
What I got back was moving images of whining things and comments like I should avoid Saigon and if i found the Highland there is hope for me - from you and others.
That is sarcasm. What does it prove? That you all are so insecure you need to be one-up on the newcomer ? That you are a bunch of women?
Since that is what this Forum is about I don't need it.
My last Post.
Chuc may man.
I didn't expect anything.
What's it to you?
