Hi,

You will first need to secure an entry visa so that you can enter the Philippines. Once you are in the country you can apply a Temporary Resident Visa at the Bureau of immigration which is valid for 1 year. Before it will expire you will need to renew it and the validity will be 5 years.

You don't need a visa for the first 30 days.
There is no 1 yr visa. The only way you can live in the Philippines and not renew your visa every 3 or 6 months is through the 13A process or a retirement visa.

Libra, do you have any more info on the Temporary Resident Visa valid for 1 year?  I am very interested in this.  Is it different than the Tourist Visa route?

It is for married couples before having the definitive 13A

India does not appear to enjoy the visa upon entry privilege, So yes, I think you need to get that before you come to the Philippines.
