Meeting expats

Hi, my name's Gene - I'm from Australia and am working in Grand Baie.

I'm a bit concerned since arriving here. There aren't many groups on this site and the ones that exist appear to have nobody attending them ...

I traveled here by myself and would like to meet people to chat/for drinks etc. I only speak English. I'm due to start work next Monday and would like to meet up with similar people before then.

I enjoy football, F1, reading, water sports etc.

Cheers

Hi Gene,

Welcome to Expat.Com  :)

Meeting expats in Grand Baie/the north, shouldn't be a problem. Give yourself some time, you will surely get to know people either from co workers or just by hanging around in Grand Baie, restaurants/pubs, beach and so on. The north is where the majority of expats are afterall  :)

At Expat.Com, we organised a meet up last Thursday in the north. There will be another one soon, i don't know yet when and where, but till then, feel free to have a look at the Events in Mauritius section of the website from time to time to see if anyone is organising something.

All the best,
Bhavna

Good evening, gents! I'm also a newbie to the site and would love to meet a few fellow expatriates! Anyone interested in hiking in particular?
