Hello -

I am an expat working in Phnom Penh for a few months now. I don't have a bank account here. Mostly, I send money back home thru Moneygram. However, I also receive money from Paypal and it goes into my home country bank account. When I withdraw that money here, it gets deducted exorbitant fees. It's painful.

Do you guys have any idea about the options/best ways/most convenient options to send and receive money? Not just from the Philippines but in other countries too. How do you guys send and receive money from your own countries?

Hi:

I would suggest to open an account with one of the local banks (ABA is the bank of choice). Then use www.transferwise.com to transfer money which is much better than MoneyGram and Western Union.

Philip
