Banking methods for non euro expats

Are you actually living here?  It’s easier sorting out your banking once you are here. The main banks are HSBC, BOV (Bank of Valletta) and BNF, we found BNF to be the easier one to open an account.

Get a Revolut or Bunq.com or Transferwise card - much easier.  Then if your employer insists on a local bank try get one then

I use Transfer wise and have found it good. Although I do have a Bov account, it is really for my direct debits.

Transferwise is really good, get a global account with Debit Card and you can convert currencies and move the money in seconds, also do online and in store transactions.
It is a Mastercard so is not accepted in BNF & APS bank ATMs as they only have contracts with VISA.

I assume you mean opening a bank account, it differs from bank to bank you will need a copy of your lease to prove where you live, your passport, residence card and some banks ask for a letter from your own bank. When you move here ask in the bank what you need to open an account.
