Best way to respond to "dutch directness"

Post new topic

I have been reading a lot about their directness in stating what they thing, not pussyfooting around. So in general what is the best and most appropriate way to respond to this directness? Just to be matter of fact about the topic back to them? If someone has a comment on my weight or my pronunciation or whatever the case may be, how best do I respond back? Do I thank them for their observation or....?

Hi again.

I would probably better describe it as they are not subtle in opining an opinion you may or may not have asked for.  Confrontation and litigation doesn't work, probably best to consider what they say, there is no law that requires you to acknowledge what they say, but if you are overweight and have poor pronunciation, then perhaps they are trying to help?

Hope this helps.

Thank you Cynic! Yes I want to be able to respond properly. I don't easily get offended. I assume maybe I just might agree with them as casually as they express their opinion, or thank them, or say "Yes, it's been difficult to get started" or whatever the case may be.
