I do not know the documents name in English, but I am keen to know how long it takes(let´s say from January) before I will have the correct document in my hand to be delivered to my home country´s officials to stop taxing me?
It varies a lot by country. In Spain you had to pay tax once before they gave it to you(in Fuengirola) and in Morocco it was just handed to you.

It must be something like ""The recidential tax certificate" or something like that, right?

Edit: I am retired but do not remember under which category I need to file my residence aplication to as I have been away from this site years :)

So you are being taxed in Finland? And on what?

Ramithegreat

Well, I am being taxed in Finland from my pension as are everyone who have income what so ever :) Why is this important to you?

So members can give you a better response.

Ramithegreat

Aha, I see. Well I do know the process in Finland´s end and it requires a rental contract of an apartment/house, not less than 6 months, and then this residential certificate which states my taxation is being taken care of by Malta.
I am only curious will I get it within the residential applying process when I will receive the other documents or does it take longer?

After you take up residence over here you have to go to the Inland revenue and inquire about this issue. Often government pensioners have to continue paying taxes to their homecountry. In this case Malta may not tax you at all. However, that depends on your income. As far as I know double taxation has to be avoided in the EU. Therefore you have to find out in which country you have to pay taxes. Without knowing what agreement exists between Finland and Malta it is difficult to give you any final advice. However, if you have to pay taxes in Malta do not expect to file an income tax declareration in the first 6 months of your stay. As I mentioned before the Inland revenue department over here will advise you accordingly.

GozoMo

Regardless of which country you pay tax to, you have to complete a tax form here yearly.

Ramithegreat

Not that it is your business but I am not on a government pensioner.
And thank you so very much but I do know I have to declare taxes even in Malta.

I am well aware about the tax agreement between Finland and Malta. This means I have no doubts about the process exept the lenght of time consumed to get the right documents.
I thought I made this clear by stating I have done it a couple of times to different countries.

So back to the subject. Does anyone know the timeline?

Edit: I understood the "Inland Revenue" to be the one place that´ll give me the answer but after getting these irrelevant answers about procedures I DO NOT NEED information about made me wanna repeat my question.

I am not aware of any formal proof of tax residence - I have asked before too - its defacto once you've been here for 6 months and as long as you continue to spend at least 6 months here.  You might get something from the IRD if you go and ask specially, but only after 6 months will you get that.

As for tax returns, its not the case that you have to fill in every year for everyone, the IRD can decide its not needed for an individual and will notify you if thats the case (I have such a notification and thus do not need to send them every year).

Ramithegreat

Thank you for your message.

However, there is this document even if I cannot name it correctly, because by sending it together with the tenant agreement to Finland´s officials is the only way you can get them of your back :)

Edit: Done it more than once and that´s the name of the game

The tone of your posts is unlikely to illicit a response from members who are only trying to help.
You can not expect to get an exact answer from anyone other than the authorities and being rude will probably mean no answers at all!

Ramithegreat

I was irritated by the irrelevant answers. By which post of mine did I offend anyone?

Relevant answers will come from authorities alone. Just by telling other people their answers are irrelevant you piss them off

I'm not going to waste to my to much on this. But I do detest when I come across its none of your business and the likes of that. Expat.com is a platform built on where members can share advice and their experience also expertise.

We are not mind readers so when asking a question GIVE as much information as possible so we don't have to round in cycles.

If one is rude, you will end up with NO responces.

I am sorry if I have been rude.

Still, in my opinion, I would rather be left with no answers than getting answers to someone else´s problem.
I do understand that by giving more information I would skip these "answers to another issue", but in my understanding it is everyones responsebility to act accordingly. It has been pointed out I haven´t but still these answers I have gotten aren´t more than related to the issue.

F0xgl0ve

Perhaps, as you have not had the answer you want after a couple of days, you are asking in the wrong place and there are no experts on Finnish tax laws on the Malta forum!

SimCityAT

Well I'm guessing here, you want to stop paying tax on your pension in Finland?

Well as far as I know, you're out of luck.

Ramithegreat

For your information; you´re thinking I wouldn´t be taxed by Malta if I became a resident there.

Nore do I need any help with Finnish tax laws, they are pretty simple to me, but please keep on barking IF you consider your manners to be in order.
If you are having troubles deciding from which government´s tax laws I need "help", do me a favor and don´t comment anything.

You're way out of line, people are here donating, for free, their free time to you to attempt to help you.

Its your duty to help them make the best of their donation to you, not be rude to them if perhaps they miss understand or explained something incorrectly.

Hopefully the mods will help here, this references to "barking" etc is just out of order entirely.

SimCityAT

Sorry but do us all a favour. Don't post again. You clearly don't understand how things work here. No one has been offensive towards you. But YOU towards everyone else.

You have been given a simple answer. Go to the Maltese tax office.

But I will say again its normal to be taxed on your pension from your home country. You don't like IT TOUGH LUCK. That's how's things are.

F0xgl0ve

You have to file a tax return in Malta and as long as your country has a double taxation agreement with Malta you can offset the tax you have already paid against your liability here.
If you wish to be taxed here and not in your own country because tax rates are lower here and your country needs proof of your income being taxed here you will have to talk to the tax authorities here!
If you are not getting a response from them, visit their offices and sort it out instead of having a go at everyone on here who was trying to help you instead of being offensive.
If you act like that when you are here you will find that it will not work and you will simply be told, in no uncertain words, 'to go back to your own country' and I am using the polite version!
