Hello everyone,

Whether you’re a history buff or not, here’s a chance to learn about the history of Portugal. Below are a few trivia questions to test whether you have the correct facts.

2. What is the name of the national anthem? When and by whom was it created?

national anthem is : Portuguesa, written by de Mendonca.
Important dates : 1139 Moors defeated, the Burgundy monarchy starts the independence of Portugal - October 5th 1143 - the creation of Portugal / real independence - October 5th 1910, establishment of the republic (no more monarchy) - April 25 1974 the restortion of democracy after the Salazar dictatorship (carnation revoluton).
Important sites : way too many....... Torre de Belem, palacio nacional Pena, Cathedral of Faro, Sintra etc.......
