Hi there folks. My name's Martin, and I'm currently back home in Ireland. I'm interested in spending some time in Vietnam, not sure where exactly, but I've been looking online at Hanoi, HCMC, and have really liked what I've seen of Da Nang. I was hoping you guys could give me some guidance on the price I'd pay for a decent little studio apartment. In these places.

Thanks in advance

Martin

Hey Martin,

well, choose wisely if Hanoi or HCMC, very different cities, usually people love one or another.

Regarding some studio, if you want something “good” in a center or close to it, usually we talk about 500USD per month. Can go lower, can go higher, but that would be average for a place that has all you need.

In DaNang, it will be cheaper I guess..but, I would not stay that long there, it is interesting city, different than others, but, not that much things to do. It all comes to what is your plan and preferences to do.

Once you arrive and are staying in a cheap hotel or hostel:

1. Search for 30 days of rental on Airbnb. The rate will almost always be lower than the daily rate.

2. Use the Airbnb function to contact the landlord and ask to come see the property.

3. If you like the place, you can probably negotiate an even lower rate for 6 months or more.

Otherwise, your question is very general.

Hard to give you a truly informative response unless you have identified a particular neighborhood, such as Hoan Kiem in Hanoi, Mỹ Khê Beach in Danang, or District 7 in HCMC (as examples).

Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback OB. I guess no matter where I decide to stay,  Airbnb is the best bet initially. I'll have a look at their site now. I suppose as it's my first time in the country I'll have to have a look at all the big hubs, though what I've managed to find about DeNang, it is currently looking favourite

If I were fresh from the boat, Da Nang or Vung Tau would definitely be my choice. If your priority would be dating these beautiful, pure and innocent Vietnamese women, Saigon would be number one.
