Is your home country represented in Laos? And if it is not, do you find this is a problem?

We have just posted online a piece about the importance of diplomatic representation in your host country while living abroad. Do let us know whether you think it is absolutely essential and share your experience about diplomacy in Laos.

Have a great week,

I have dual citizenship New Zealand and Australia. There is no NZ Embassy here in Laos, the closest being in Bangkok Thailand. For consular assistance NZ citizens can contact the Australian Embassy here in Vientiane.

In my travels and working around the world I make a point of registering with my nearest Embassy or Consulate. To me it is important to at least know to contact your closest Embassy or Consulate, especially in an emergency.
