Setting up a business in Thailand

To the experienced business people out there,

please let me know what it takes do a online business for a expat, which is basically a working from home kind of a thing, but there would be a lot of international contacts and money transfers(USD) involved.

1) Do we have to register the business in thailand?
2) how will the tax structure work out for individuals like me.

your advice or links on this matter will be greatly appreciated and honoured.

Based on your info about type of business I would keep low key and fly under the radar.  Minimize any info you pass to people you know in Thailand (friends or girlfriends).  The less people know about your business the better off you are should friends turn on you.

You did not mention which country you are citizen but that will have some bearing on my comments about taxes.

I would suggest you obtain Singapore or Hong Kong bank account to use for your business.

Have you given any thought about visa type you will need?

Hello charithh and welcome to Expat.com!

Maybe you should give more details about your dreams and you so as other members may help you.

Good luck,
Harmonie.

Hi I'm looking at moving my business over to Bangkok in another year as im having to constantly fly to and from Australia every 3 to 4 months. I'm going to continue to operate my business under the same registered business name and number, also keep it all under the Australian taxation office, nothing should change as money being transferred will go into my australian busines account. You should do the same and register your business in your own country that way you won't be working illegal and you are there just on a business trip associated with your back at home business hope this helps!!
