Alcohol limit in Germany

Hi again.

Last time I was there, there was no exact limit except in terms of a blood-alcohol limit of 0.5 mg of alcohol per mm of blood. For an average man, this is only two small beers.  It is very easy to go over the limit.

Personally - if you drink, then I prefer the "12 hours from bottles to throttles" rule, so no driving for 12 hours after drinking any booze.

Hey Henry, theres actually calculators online that you just put your details into and it tells you if your over the limit or not for eg https://www.bussgeld-info.de/promillerechner/ . I´m pretty sure you can also buy gadgets that you can self test how much alcohol is in your system

There is a limit of 0.5 mg/l alcohol content in your blood, above which you are not allowed to drive any more - i.e. you get penalised (and can lose your driving license) without having caused any problem while driving.
But even below that, if you cause an accident or other incidents (violating traffic rules or takling someone's right of way is enough), you will be penalised much more harshly than without alcohol.
The clear rule is: If you drink, don't drive!
