Hello, everyone:

I just read an article in the Times of Malta about expats leaving Malta due to "Xenophobia".  Some expats say locals are yelling at them to "Go back to where you came from".   Just wondering if any of you folks have had experience with this type of thing.

Thank you.

Have had it said several times on Social Media, but no one has ever said it to my face.
I must admit though, I have said it to myself about foreigners in the UK when I lived there, it is human nature to not want others telling you what you should do in your own country but it is a different matter if it is purely racial.

It's common the world over and perfectly normal, there's always a huge part of society who dont want foreigners around.

Doesnt seem much worse here than elsewhere.  The country is small though so while in a place like the UK you might have to travel far to a more traditional part to get exposed to this in Malta you're always near everything.

I live in a mostly Maltese town - 3 of my neighbours in their 70s were born in their houses - and its nothing but pleasant.  Sure you're not going to be making any close friends with Maltese in general (not unheard of ofcourse) but its not an unwelcoming place if you don't push peoples buttons.

Thank you.

I was thinking the same thing.  This is common around the world.
