WHAT TO DO IF SPONSOR REFUSE TO GIVE YOU YOUR PASSPORT

Post new topic

I have two brothers here in Bahrain who wanted to change their jobs to a new sponsor just because the old sponsor has not been paying them. They went through the normal process writing a resignation letter, gave it to their boss and posted at the post office too. They got a new job offer which they wanted to change but when the approaches the boss he said he has taken their passport to the police station so they should go there for it. Today being Sunday as they went to the police station, they police people told them that this sponsor has files a case against them in court so they have taken their passport to the court (lol) which is hard to believe and these brothers do not have an embassy here and are helpless. Does anyone knows which steps to take or what to do? This and many cases of African Expat who’s passport are not in their possession even if they finish their contracts and wants to leave and it as if the police station is not working in helping them to retrieve it.

All advices and guidelines needed .

Normally, you can get the passport back by complaining at the police station but it seems that the sponsor has already filed a case against them.   They need to get a lawyer.

Thanks X Tang but in the case where they can not afford a lawyer, is there any legal aid for such helpless expat for free?

XTang

Unfortunately not.  Unless there are programs for help run by your country's Embassy.
