Does anybody have any tips on how to get a job with Bapco or Tatweer?

Hag

I'll be moving to Bahrain in September and have been looking at innumerable different companies and websites for months and two companies that I keep coming across are Bapco and Tatweer Petroleum.  I've spoken to my friends living in Bahrain and they aren't sure about how to approach either company, no-one knows anyone there and neither seem too keen on replying to inquiries or applications.  I guess they get a load of applications so expecting to hear from them might be too much to ask if I'm not being considered for the roles for which I've applied.  I've applied through both company recruitment portals and I'm pretty sure that I've given them every revision of my CV over the past 9 months but I've heard nothing back at all.

I am again going to submit my most recent CV and see how I get on, but if anyone knows anything that might be of help I'd be eternally grateful.

This job hunting lark is getting trying!  PMA all the way though ;)

Thanks.

Hag:)

Thanks erosisboy, I've been told that I 'might as well be looking into a field of thistles' as applying for a job with bapco.

I'll keep trying anyway, I have made some good contacts in Bahrain and hope that something will come of that;)

Hi Hag,

Well Bapco is sure a difficult company to get in... Particularly because a lot of Bahrainis would like to work there :D
So competition is tough for expat, especially if they expect a high salary !
As far as I know, the people fired by Bapco were employees not attending their duties for more than X days. During the events of February and March, some employees couldn't or wouldn't come to work wether because roads were blocked or because they were on strike. Most of the companies have been patient but some employees didn't come back or stayed on strike for too long and have been then terminated.
Maybe I'm wrong but I didn't hear anything about a reduction of their number of employees.

Good luck to Hag in his search !

Thanks Olivier ;)

I've seen an increase in the number of vacancies at Bapco and was hoping that I'd get in but I'm not put off:)  There are jobs in Bahrain, some of which I'm sure I'm qualified for and in other news, A company in Dammam have expressed an interest in me ao all is not lost:)
