Make sure you get your police clearance report from the UK Before to come to the Philippines

As Scott-Davao has said, you will need your police certificate from the UK before you come here. You can apply online at www.crbdirect.org.uk/dbscheck/apply or www.acro.police.uk. This will need to be legalised by the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in Milton Keynes. For UK, you no longer need to get an apostle from the Philippine Embassy.

In theory, all can be done within a 30 day visa but you would have to be quick to get your application in at the PRA. It can take longer than 30 days at the best of times so with the COVID restrictions I would expect the application process to take a little longer. No worries though, PRA will arrange the necessary extension for the appropriate fee.

You will need to transfer your VISA Bond money electronically from outside the Philippines. The process described for doing this in the PRA documentation does not comply with the latest anti laundering rules in the UK and in the Philippines. My UK bank flatly refused to send my money using that method. That made me very nervous about the transfer. All was very easy and I was able to transfer the money directly to the designated account while making the application at the PRA office, by using my mobile banking app.

The PRA fees can be paid in cash or by bank transfer.

I like to prepare myself in advance. However, I found that trying to communicate with PRA via email or telephone was not 100% effective. I presented myself directly at the PRA office in Cebu for a chat. I found that a face to face chat was much more efficient. The PRA staff could not have been more helpful. I sorted my medical on the day that I made my application. All was very quick. After speaking to PRA,

Good luck with the application

In securing my SRRV,  I used an accredited PRA representative (no charge for their help), with whom I exchanged emails regarding the documents needed to begin the process.

She and her assistant were very helpful and all emails were answered the same day.  This particular rep has been helping SRRV applicants for at least 10 years. She is knowledgeable and professional.  She  and other PRA accredited reps are paid out of the one time $1400 dollar (U.S.) fee.

If you would like her contact information, send me a private message and I will send it to you.  No, I do not get any referral fees.  Some people just enjoy helping others.

I just received mine in the last couple of weeks.  With the current COVID issues, mine took 6 months and I am not the only one.
The problem is all the agencies involved.
1st is either the PRA or marketer.
If you have all the paperwork done, it should take them just a few weeks.  But with the current
situation it could take much longer.
NBI clearance
Is normally about 3 weeks depending on how many people are actually working as many
offices only have skeleton work crew.  Or maybe they shut down altogether if  someone
            gets sick
PRA Processing in Manila
should only be a couple of weeks but is subject to the above.
Bureau of Immigration in Manila
1st they check for negative information about you
Next the send it to the legal department for final acceptance.
BI was shut multiple times due to COVID and was always short staffed.
PRA
The completed visa and ID card are then sent back to the local PRA and this could easily take
             a week
Then you will be scheduled to due the swearing in.  In my case, that was done via video chat
since they no longer allow anyone back in to their offices.

All of this takes place without any clue given as to where you are in the process.
So what, in normal times is ~45 days  can now be 6 or 7 months.
If it does take too much time you will have to arrange for your current visa to be extended.

Also do i have to open a bank account with a named bank for the visa deposit ?
just not sure how and where this money is to be transfered.

thanks

Yes you will need to open special time-locked SRRV account from the list of banks that they will give you

You can also open up a normal account at the same bank if you wish but I would suggest the BDO and or the BPI bank are better options for a day to day account

Cheers

Yes that is the most confusing part.  I used the PRA and not an agent.  They take care of the bank.  PRA will give you a letter and tell you what bank to go to.  You take the letter and US dollars to that bank. That bank will deposit that money into whatever bank PRA uses. I assume that an agent would work much the same.

You can also send the money by SWIFT from your own country but this only saves you about a week.  There are confusing instructions on the PRA website involving two intermediate banks.

Usually, the bank that they send you to will also allow you to open a personal bank account.  Otherwise, it can be difficult to get a personal account since you will not have the proper documents such as an ACR-I card and proof of residence.

thanks for your help.

the automatic 30 day visa for foreigner is no longer possible  you need to apply for visa and retrieve it prior to the flight

AaronAardvark

Not sure what that has to do with an SRRV visa.
