Weather in Malta (cold)

It gets a lot colder. It especially feels a lot colder due to lack of insulation and the humidity etc. Now is a great time to swim just be aware the currents are getting stronger.  Early mornings especially getting in the sea at 7 am the water is a lot warmer than outside

I feel colder here than I ever did in London - obviously London is much colder and going out is colder but in general you can feel much more uncomfortable here then in prepared countries.

Not everyone is wearing jumpers a slight exaggeration we are still in summer clothes.  You will find a lot of the locals always start wearing winter clothes at the beginning of October regardless how high the temperature and start with summer clothes beginning of June even though May can be lovely and warm.

Well I only moved here in July this year and I'm not finding the weather cold for October, but perhaps ask me this time next year and I may have a different answer.

Why do you feel colder in Malta than london? Because the homes here are less insulated?

yes, damp everywhere, bedding thats damp, insufficient heating etc. especially in what pass for penthouses here.

Don't underestimate the value of central heating

I now have a nice pellet stove, double glazing and underfloor heating, world of difference.  Alas not things you'll find in rentals.

Maybe you should have visited in winter.

I was in Malta over March and April and can't remember the year but I think it was 2003 and I nearly froze to death. I am Maltese and have always been cold in Malta, my mother remarked on it at the time. The rest of the family marvelled with such remarks as "but you live in Canada" yes, I find Canada very cold but with some exceptions it's a dry cold AND VERY IMPORTANT, WE HAVE CENTRAL HEATING AND INSULATION. I had to rush home as I started getting the foot problems I suffered with in Malta, rising damp, I think.

Now, I'm finding Canada extremely cold but at least I don't have to sleep in my down coat (like I did in Malta) so What to do? With all the restrictions (I'm not getting gagged for almost a whole day on the plane for nobody) and Malta has become a playground for the rich from what I'm seeing, sadly I'm not one of them so I guess I'll have to add another layer and stay here. Good luck to all those that can afford it.

There are times, though when I wish I could hear my own native tongue spoken and maybe even speak (rusty) myself since my own family is a bunch of savages and can't be bothered to oblige. I've been brushing up and can still read and understand. I've spoken nothing but English for sixty years. Good Lord!!!!! I've been gone that long?
