Domestic travel in Vietnam

Post new topic

matthanoi

Hi - Does anyone have recent experience of domestic travel within Vietnam for foreigners during corona virus outbreak?

I am based in Hanoi and considering visiting Ho Chi Minh City and also a beach resort for Christmas. Day to day life in Hanoi is relatively normal. Are domestic flights normal, or are their additional delays and safety procedures?

Can I travel with just a passport, or do I need evidence that I have completed quarantine?

I would be interested in hearing people's experiences of travelling in the last couple of months (October/November).

Thanks

I wouldn't listen to that advice.

I haven't been using the airlines, but I've been traveling by private car between Vũng Tàu and Huế and back again.

In addition to your passport you will often be asked to provide your declaration of health status.

Many hotels will ask that you provide the info at check-in and will have a government form for you to complete.

However, a better way is to download the Ministry of Health app created for this purpose:

Google Play store link

You add all of your information one time, using your Hanoi address for "home".

Then, you can update your status daily, which will eventually provide a record of where you've been and how you've been feeling.

Should you be requested to provide your declaration at the airport or at a hotel or elsewhere by government authorities, they simply scan the QR code in the app and you are on your way.

I’ve been to and from Saigon twice in the past 6 weeks to Phu Quoc - no issues

My brother and his gf just went from Saigon to Ha Noi return and was asked none of those things you mentioned.

My travel was between the middle of June until the 21st of October.

Last week rode the big bike from Vung Tau to Bao Loc (one night), Dalat (two nights) and back with no issues whatsoever. Didn't even take passport - have TRC.

I've flown HCMC to Phu Quoc and HCMC to Con Dao Island a couple of times since COVID.  No issues.  Passport, wear a mask and online health declarations on my phone.  That's it. No delays.
