Hi all,

Newbie on the Qatar forum? Don't know how to start?

This thread is for you ;)

We invite you to introduce yourself on this topic, to share with us your expat story if you are already living in the country,
or to tell us more on your expat projects in Qatar if you are planning to move there.

It will enable us to help you better but above all to wish you a warm welcome.

Welcome on board!

Pragan

Hi Julien, thank you for the welcome.
I am Akis from Greece, planning to move to Qatar from Greece in this challenging time.

The main reason i joined the forum is because I am still unclear how i can bring my family when I am employed. I know i can apply, but is that happening now during covid? and how fast i can get them here? is it right after QID, which i think would take 2-3 weeks? or is it many months?

I searched and didnt find any thread on this, would appreciate some guidance and if i dont find anything, i will open a thread myself.

Thanks and be safe to all!

Diksha

Hello Akis,

Welcome to Expat.com :)

On behalf of Julien and the Expat.com team, welcome!

Thanks for introducing yourself. :)

We are indeed going through a challenging time all over the world. The surest way to go forward is through getting hold of all the important information to make one's move possible in a safe way.  :idontagree:

Please feel free to start a new thread on the Qatar forum to ask your questions, especially since not much has been shared about the topic on which you're looking for info.

Good luck in your future plans,

Diksha

Hi,

My name is Neil and I am considering moving to Qatar as a teacher with my teenage children. I have lots of questions and have been watching videos on Qatar, Kuwait, UAE and other Middle Eastern destinations. I would like to get some honest info about employers there,  especially the school/company that has been in contact with me.

Thanks Julian for your warm welcome.

My main aim of moving to Qatar is to reunite with my family and reunite with my mother whom I’ve not had a chance to live with since I was the age of three. I’m 22 years old and for 18+ plus years we’ve been separated and it’s been extremely difficult for both of us.

I currently reside in London, I will be graduating from university next year May 2022. I want to relocate by that summer, then my mum will move from Canada to Qatar, then she’s going to bring her parents from Somalia to Qatar as she will be responsible for them.

Moving to Qatar will not only help with my career prospects but it will also help me reunite with my mother and for her to reunite with her parents. The way we see it Qatar offers a leeway for my family to finally start to heal after years of pain and separation.

I realise I must secure a job before making plans to move there. I still have roughly another year before I finish university and would love to know where I can apply for English speaking jobs and vacancies related to my politics and international relations degree.

Many thanks and warm regards

Mohamed W

Hello everybody...
I hope that everyone is doing well and keeping safe and healthy during these mad times..
My question is:
Been offered a job in doha and not sure what to do??
I am married with 2 kids aged 6yr and 1yr.
Offer comes with accommodation, medical insurance and travel expenses but no schooling and the salary is at 17500 but I am not sure if that will be enough?
I would really appreciate any sort of guidance
Thanks in advance
Marc

Mama in Transit

Hi!
I'm Joanna, a Polish mom of 3 who's been living in Qatar for almost 10 years now, but somehow only managed to find this page & forum now. :)

I moved to Qatar in early 2012 to join my husband, with a degree in Polish law and no job lined up. In the years that followed, I'd worked in the automotive business as well as in real estate.

I've also started a blog about expat family life in Qatar (***). This happened because I've struggled to find basic information on things such as schools or things to do in Qatar for kids. I'm currenty between jobs & focusing on my family life until another oportunity comes along!

I'm really happy to have joined this community!

Have a wonderful day everyone & stay safe!
