Budget - Living a modest life in las Terrenas

Post new topic

Hi everyone

My family and I are in talks stage of picking up and retiring in DR in the next few years.  I am wondering if anyone has a break down on what the monthly cost of living in the DR would be.  I know this is a very open ended question and there are a lot of factors that go into that number.  I am just wondering how far a single pension (CAD) will take us.  Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums.  There are a number of  threads here you will need to read!   Several cover the  costs of living here and then there is a thread  covering how to qualify for residency here honey!

Lots and lots of great info available.

Welcome! My husband (RockyM) and I retired to Las Terrenas last July. I'm happy to answer any questions you have about LT.

Are you planning to rent or purchase a home? That will be a big factor in your budget. If renting, your requirements/preferences will also make a big difference - do you want a home or an apartment? Do you want to be on the beach? In town? In the hills? Will you have a car here or will you rely on taxis/walking/pasolas to get around?
