Travelling to Saudi by Road with a Visit Visa from Bahrain

Post new topic

Hello guys,

I am quarantining in Bahrain currently and was planning to travel by road to the kingdom with a valid visit visa. I have read that it is not feasible and only flying in would be possible, but the thread was about 2 months old.
Anyone here who could provide me wether its possible ?
it would mean a lot to me, and a lot less hassle.

Thanks Again.

I came from Bahrain 4 weeks ago. This is my understanding. First time visit on a visa has to be by air. Not land border. I think it has something to do with the issue of a border number. I don't think you can get in with a tourist visa. I have a business visa.

If the visit visa under mode says "OPEN", you can travel by road.  This is written in Arabic and reads as MAFTUH.   Also, nowadays, only business visit visa holders (Or Iqama holders) are allowed to travel into Saudi via causeway.  The rest they routinely turn back.

I see, mine is a "Family Visit Visa" and I enquired with one of my friends who was travelling to Bahrain by road to check with the officers there, and they said yes. Now since it is my first time with the visa, I hope they let me in.

Hi, I don't see anything as such. But my purpose it is written as " family". Can you specify where MUFTAH is written ?
Thank you

Travel back via causeway is for iqama holders with valid E/R visa only not with a visit visa

Are you sure about this ? One of my friend who was travelling back to Bahrain enquired with the visa officers, and they did not have a problem as such. Can you confirm via a source ? How certain are you ?

No problems for iqama and business visit visa holders. Family visit visa depends on luck and the office who is sitting there. And what you need to understand is that nothing in this part of the world is listed clearly..... For example, any iqama holder can go to Bahrain and get visa on arrival. Bahrain has no issue so then why is it that Saudi immigration does not let you exit unless you show them a bahrain residence or visa?   Post Covid they have been very erratic and changing without notice.  I had a few friends who crossed on a family visit visa but barely one hour later, another group was not allowed to cross.

So try your luck but no one can give you a definite answer.

It is possible. No ban confirmed so far
My brother in quarantine there
It 6th day.  I’m in dammmam. There is no confirmed press news on the causeway ban
You can cross

Hi everyone,

I am writing to ask if Personal Visit Visas to enter Saudi Arabia can be issued (once approved) at the Bahrain Causeway. Otherwise, can I attend an appointment at the Saudi Consulate in Manama (I am not a Bahraini resident)?

Ask your sponsor to advise - as normal process wise, neither of those are possible.
