[HCMC] Obtaining a work permit with insufficient work experience

No legal way to get around it.

The employer should take care of the work permit, it sounds like this is an internal requirement

Have you communicated this with your HR? I think they can find a work around like ask for additional requirements, like maybe training certificates or seminars you’ve attended that’s relevant to your job.
I had a similar issue before, but my situation is I don’t have a degree so instead, they asked for a total of 5 years work experience proof of documents.

"For expert working under labor contracts
- Bachelor’s degree and certificate of at least 3 years of experience relevant to the job position expected to work in Vietnam, or;
- Have at least 5 years of experience and practice certificate relevant to the job position expected to work in Vietnam, or;
- Decided by the Prime Minister at the request of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs."

Regarding the certificate of at least 3 years of experience, do they want certified paperwork from prior employers now?

Anyone know if there is a time limit on renewing old work permits?

Here is an article as of today (24/04).  It seems that "or" 5 years is no longer operative word but that a degree is required.    "Companies complain about new academic requirements for foreign execs"  I'm not saying this is right or wrong but it would make the requirement for industrial "experts" in line with those for ESL teachers.

An interesting change to the WP process is those who are married to a local don't need to apply for work permit.
