I am working in Saudi Arabia. I want to bring my wife on family visa but her Hepatitis C antibody test is positive. However, her HCV RNA test is negative that means the viral load is zero. I was told that she will not be able to get her Iqama if her Hepatitis C antibody test is positive. Is that true? Or there are some relaxation in getting Iqama for family/dependent visa. Need suggestions regarding this.

tediehudson

yes its true. positive for Hepititus C she cant get igama

Antibody for HVC is different from negative viral load, meaning a old infection. The Saudi MOH requires a PCR in order to determine in the subject still have an active infection or is "immune" (recovery like covid19)

Hi, we’re you able to get the Iqama  by doing a negative PCR?

Alan vault
A negative PCR is required, issued by a Saudi authorized laboratory.
Alan vault

@S13 Yes

nabeel shaheen

can someone with positive anti HCV but negative RNA PCR get saudi iqama? is there any reliable news?

sabarahman2

Good morning everyone,

sorry to jump into this conversation but I have myself an issue since I cannot find any place in KSA-Jeddah doing NRA test for virus load result. Despite several request, they are continously doing reactive test which are always coming back as positive.

Any of you would know a clinic in Jeddah providing this RNA detection ?

btw, I've recently been hired by the national airlines (cannot disclose the name) but will sonn be back in the plane to Paris if I don't find a clinic able to find me fit to get my Iqama...

XTang

All clinics, for "Iqama medical", will ALWAYS do the antibody test.  It is only for "non-iqama" medical that can you can request an RNA test.

Ask your sponsor to see if they can help in anyway by trying to find some sort of workaround.

Olivier33000

Thanks for your reply #XTang. Unfortunately, my sponsor are not considering making any efforts for my case. Moreover, I doubt a "non-Iqama" clinic will be able to upload their results in the system.

XTang

The clinic is the same............the package is where the change happens. For Iqama medical, they have a mandated list of tests that they need to do and upload results for.  In that, they are not particularly flexible.............because MOH has specified what tests need to be done by the hospital in order for them to issue FIT onward to immigration.

Now having said that, what I have experienced in the past is that some clinics are pretty lax when it comes to tests.........e.g. for me, I went with the company representative being top management........so they laid out the red carpet at the clinic.   They only took blood and I was out in 5 minutes........no x-ray, nothing else.   That is what I meant.

Olivier33000

@fommy Did you find a way for your family ? I'm mylself in this kind of issue and I cannot find proper support in Jeddah.

Thanks for your answer.

ablih09

@Olivier33000 Did you ask for RNA test in the clinic you have visited?

XTang

If you read what I wrote above, it should be clear that you cannot ASK for an RNA test.

ablih09

@XTang Thank you. So, what is the fate of someone who has gotten the VISA and medical report that clearly stated the condition that the RNA test is negative and the person is not a risk to anybody

XTang

As I mentioned, your sponsor needs to get involved.  As per normal process, you will be denied a visa as you won't pass the standard Iqama medical.

Is HCV RNA same as PCR?

If the antibody test is reactive or positive, you need an additional test to see if you currently have hepatitis C. This test is called a nucleic acid test (NAT) for HCV RNA. Another name used for this test is a PCR test.

Drzain89

@Black Iris do you get iqama if your pcr is negative?

Hello, Greetings! I have the same case and on forum I have got mixed answers if it works or not. if anyone was able to get iqama successfully with having Elisa positive but PCR negative for HCV then please share the process so that other people can benefit from it. Thanks
