(from the official Danang government news site:)
"The Da Nang government has imposed temporary closure of non-essential services across the city starting from 0:00am on May 4 until further notice in a bid to minimise large gatherings as part of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.:
baodanang.vn/english/society/202105/temporary-closure-imposed-on-non-essential-services-in-da-nang-following-covid-19-positive-case-3880332/
Same in Sa Pa hotels just about empty, bus companies sharing passengers to fill buses, resturants, bars, non essentials all closed.
We left yesterday mid-day.
And again, Danang beaches are now closed:
danangtoday.com.vn/society/202105/da-nang-beaches-fall-silent-following-swimming-ban-amid-covid-19-concerns-3880364/
The article only states there is a "swimming ban", but according to multiple posts in a Facebook group for Danang expats, the police have put up tape barricades again AND are patrolling the entire eastern beach, chasing away anyone doing anything on the sand.
Is there much resistance in people in VN getting vaccinated? A anti-vaxxer kind of movement so to speak? I know the vaccine is not readily available in VN yet but do you sense any resistance?
The US has administered 247m shots and 106m adults are fully vaccinated. 31.8% of the total population. I am due for my second Pfizer shot in about 10 days.
But it blows me away how many of my fellow countrymen refuse to get the shot. It has become so politicized here in the US. It’s just crazy.
US Govt came out today and said we likely won’t get to herd immunity because so many people won’t get the shots either due to bing afraid of it medically, paranoid of big brother or just for political reasons.
Yeah we are a pretty screwed up country.
What about in VN? Do you think VN will have such resistance?

There isn't ay resistance in getting vaccinated, and the vaccine is available but not yet to everyone. The last report shows that before this past long holiday, there were only 320k people who have received both shots. That's only 0.3% of the population of 98M.
The MoH's explanation of the slow process:
"The after effect of AstraZeneca in Vietnam is similar to the figures provided by the manufacturer. In particular, to date, Vietnam has not recorded any cases of blood clots or thrombosis occurring after vaccination.
With the motto "Vaccination and safety go hand in hand", the procedure for vaccination against COVID-19 in Vietnam has been carried out methodically and differently from other countries in the world, including advanced countries. To ensure that the safety of the vaccines is top priority, every minuscule detail in the procedures is strictly complied in all immunisation facilities."
Well that is good news you won’t have to deal with the resistance to get the shots. Is it mandatory or elective?
Do you see the shots ramping up now that more types of vaccines are coming on line and the AstraZeneca clotting has proven to be been such a small percentage of clotting fatalities 1-250,000 people.
It’s a global issue and I am just hoping that for people who can prove they have been vaccinated, boarders will open up for 90 day visas again and I can come to VN.

It's elective at the moment and probably for a long while yet, but the PM stated that it'll become part of the automatic immunisation for children.
I can't answer your second question, but according to the schedule of purchasing (it's in one of my posts at the beginning of the year, but please don't ask me to find it ) showed that there will be enough vaccines for the entire population by the end of the 1st quarter, 2022.
for something that has a 0.4% to 3.4% death rate depending on who you believe sure has people in a spin, flu shots have been available for years but that doesnt mean i ever had one or going to get one anytime soon.
Ebola was 50% death rate
H1N1 was .02%
SARS was 15%
Seasonal flu is 0.1%
Spanish flu was 2%
There is medicine available if you get it, and up to you if you get a shot or not, stay calm and relax peoples....

Getting back on topic for this thread:
The article in Danang Today has been updated with photos of all entrances to the beach closed with barrier tape.

My doctor didn't recommend a flu shot until I was in my 60s. But the situation is a bit different -- the flu shot is taken to protect a particular person, not to stop a pandemic.

By protection the vunrable by a shot ends what you call a pandemic,, as the other 98% who get covid dont die,,, so why protect 98% of the worlds population against something that wont kill them? Pure insanity locking the people at no risk away instead of protecting those at risk.

You just think you know who the vulnerable are, and COVID-19 has caused long term and serious problems for those who didn't die. Also, 2% of the population is a whole lot of people. Are you really that uncaring? And who was locked away? No one who didn't catch it.
It's pure insanity to downplay a pandemic, especially for ideological reasons -- you certainly aren't following science here.

The old science line,,, like the great guru fauci who has had more positions on covid than positions in the "kama sutra" no mask, 1 mask 2 mask 3 mask, every season going forward, and so far for you science loving followers, 35 death's in Vietnam which has around 97.5mill population thats 0.000035897435897435896% not exactly the "pandemic" you quote.
