Yes! it is a very difficult time in Sri Lanka.

The Government is trying its best to bring the COVID situation under control by putting in travel and  movement restrictions.

Most supermarkets and  Phamacies are providing  online service for ordering and delivery to your door. you may use your credit card on ordering or pay cash on delivery.

Uber and PickMe provides online transport services. Trucks have started selling food and vegitables door-to-door. This depends on where you are staying.

After Monday (17), till May 31, You  can venture out from 4am to 11pm, alone or in a Taxi depending on your Passport number.

According to a statement issued by Sri Lanka Police, during hours when there are no travel restrictions, You may leave the house/ Hotel, based on the last digit of Your Passport. Those whose pasport digits end with an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, or 9) may go out on ‘odd days’ and those with an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, or 8) may go out on ‘even days’, the statement said.

When you are outside or  in a taxi (Always travel in the back seat) a MASK is MANDATORY. Do not go out without a mask as Police ( some in plain clothes, not in uniforms) will arrest you and fine you.

Let me know of any specific requirements you may have to make your stay here in Sri Lanka during this tough periode a little easier.

Wine, beer or most  types of liquor is not a problem. You can buy online and pay with your credit card. You can Google “wine stores” and you can find places that deliver.

The following are the websites that I buy from,  they deliver the same day or latest by the next day. You have to initially register on the site with your delivery address after stating you are over 21:

I arrived after living in Canada for 30 years recently. So I had to find these places after the stock I brought dried up! And it dried up fast!!

Hi, I plan to go to Sri Lanka at the end of this year and my idea is to settle down at least for 6 - 12 months. Is that possible and what kind of permits would I need. I am thinking maybe to rent a nice place and see if I can convert it into a guest-house. Just thinking if that is possible and what I would need to consider to do so. Any advice will be very appreciated. Thanks folks.
