does Alexa work with WI FI ? AND DOES ANYONE HAVE PROBLEMS LOOKING AT YOUR CAMERAS FROM THE USA OR WARE-EVER  YOU ARE??? SORRY FOR ALL THE STUPID Q JUST GOING BACK ON THE 8TH WANT TO BRING WHAT A CAN THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP FROM YOU PROS!

Alexa and Google Home only work with wifi, they connect to the Amazon or Google servers to function.

You have to know where your camera is connecting too, in order to see if it will be viewable by you.  If it's connected to your home server then all you need is to setup a VPN on your system.  If it's on a company (Simplisafe, or Google) then you need to have the website URL in order to view, and that may require a VPN connection that will give you an IP Address in the USA, depending on the security features of the website.

I installed some Ring cameras in my unit in Santiago.  They work perfectly.  I have no problem monitoring movements around my unit.

I have two Echos set up and use Alenxa with no problem.  Make sure you subscirbe to a VPN account so you can access US content with no issue is you plan on using Nextflix etc.

Good advice.  I use Alexa at home, in my offices and even in our vehicles now!!!

VPN makes a big difference.

I am asking several people on here - all of who  are proving vv helpful indeed and getting info to see if i can sort the right setup for me  -- based on what u say may I ask do you use the vpn to link the echos rather than a local network  and so access any saved songs etc all from the vpn ?

I say this as I have a huge library of saved songs and use amazon music HD and I want to be able to do that when i finally get to LT

Use Amazon Music Unlimited and you don't need a VPN.  See this website --> https://music.amazon.com/help?nodeId=202204440, it displays a list of countries and applicable Amazon Music service applicable to that country.

ugh website down at the moment but will get back when works thx again

I did notice amazon have upgraded to music for all which allows hd from unlimited and hd as was, effectively bringing them together -- the only issue is my library is on music hd not unlimited and I am not sure i will be able to get at that locally - or go vpn

The VPN sits in front of all your connections.  So it tells every connection that you are somewhere other than here!  It apparently works seamlessly.  Or some do!  :D

I use spotify for music and some Amazon, no vpn, no issues, no fees.  I have vpn but have found very little use for it.  Maybe it depends upon your area.  I seldom need it where I am.  If you connect using vpn with your Alexa devices it may minimize or not utilize sidewalk mode which is a proprietary internet ring that Amazon uses to connect to wifi outside of your local area network.  Can be handy in this world of concrete.  For example, I have several networks in my home and using this feature from Amazon helps when connections are weak.  I am using about 12 or so different Alexa devices and they are working well.  It will always depend upon your own unique situation...
