Hello to all.

We are scheduled to come to Girona in September 2021 to study for a doctorate. We have a 6-year-old girl for whom we have to think about school. International schools are excellent but we do not have to pay for them. In the case of public schools, we are also concerned that our daughter does not speak Catalan. As for semi-private schools, we do not want to enroll him in religious schools. Can you please introduce a non-religious school that does not have a Catalan language issue and fees? You may even introduce in Barcelona.

Thank you very much

Hi Amir , it's very difficult. There are mostly three types of schooling. Private ( very expensive ) . Semi-private ( Catholic) or . Public ( free but mostly horrible for foreigners due to the lack of English and bullying. My wife is a Montessori teacher. I'll ask her for a list of alternatives. There are a few more "innovative" public schools slowly coming to life. If you are arrive I would try teaching your child some Catalan sooner rather than later . There is a school Saint George( private ) that offers English tutition. There is the Montessori school in Girona which offers Montessori if you're familiar with the method . But mostly , it's going to be hard for your child to adapt and shock to you , so prepare yourself best you can by reading and studying Catalan now !

My 4 years old son in January will go to Montessori school. Hope he will like it ☺️
