How do I get to Krabi?

Ok..Under a normal situation this may sound like a dumb question but honestly I don't know?
I want to come to Krabi in October flying out of SeaTac or LAX. Normally its straight forward but it sound like Bkk is all but shut down? Can I fly into Bkk and catch a contenting flight to Krabi or possibly Phuket and a boat over to Krabi?
Second question:
I know lots will change between now and mid October but currently what paperwork do I need to come to Thailand for 6 weeks?
Thanks crew,
Walt
There are no answers to your questions when asking about entering in October. The papers you need can you read about at the Thai embassy/consulate website in the US.
Oh boy are you gonna land yourself in it. I suggest you spend a week or so of spare time researching this on Thaivisa. Com, where discussions have been raging for months. Start here and then explore around the subject.

I am no longer certain if you can enter Bangkok on a tourist visa - regulations keep changing and BKK is currently the equivalent of a plague zone.
Essentially, you need to fly to Phuket. You will need a ton of paperwork - including:
A passport with at least six months validity;
Have been in a Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) approved country for 21 days or more;
Been fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) or the World Health Organisation (WHO);
Have booked and purchased return air travel;
Have booked and paid for accommodation, and required RT-PCR test/s at a SHA Plus hotel;
Have purchased medical insurance with COVID-19 treatment coverage of at least US$100,000;
Have tested negative for COVID-19 no longer than 72 hours before travel.
Full details here

To apply for entry to the Phuket Sandbox program, you will need a double-entry tourist visa and apply here:
https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/
if you need to ask the question "how do I get to Krabi" then it is apparent that you have not been keeping up with the news and have little or no idea what's involved now, or what conditions are like in Thailand.
A quick outline . . . what the 'regulations' don't tell you . . .
01. You need to book a Thai Government approved flight, direct to Phuket.
02. You will need to book into a Thai Government approved hotel and pre-pay
03. Most prices quoted for this don't include extras like food and/or drink. You need to check carefully.
04. Even if you have your own insurance, you need to purchase a Thai Government policy also.
05. You have to stay in this hotel for a minimum of 7 days.
06. You have to stay in Phuket for at least 14 days before you can travel outside (to Krabi).
07. You are constantly monitored and checked/tracked during your time in Phuket.
08, You are Covid tested upon your arrival and have to remain within your hotel for the result.
09. You will be tested again, two more times while you are in Phuket (even though you have already been vaccinated and tested prior to your arrival in Thailand.)
10. You have to pay for these tests yourself - current rate for 3 tests approx $350 in total.
Additionally, as of the time of writing, one of the control regulations is that if the Covid infection rate reaches 90 per week, the 'sandbox' scheme will be scrapped. At the moment (July 24th) it's hovering around this point and it looks like the entire scheme will be scrapped in the near future.
There is a parallel scheme now running for Koh Samui . . . but, then, the regulations in Thailand for inter-province travel are even more difficult than the Phuket scheme, involving continual GPS tracking via a phone app, amongst others
And, anyway, here in Thailand things are changing every day, including all the rules and regulations. Things are getting worse by the day and by October the entire country may be in international lockdown . . . who knows, It's more than likely, especially as only currently 6% of the populace have been vaccinated, most of them with the Chinese Sinovac vaccine, and there is no nation-wide mass testing being done.
Good luck with your plans!
It's only July at the moment. In October the requirements "might" have changed due to more people vaccinated and less cases.
Well...I have been keeping track and that is why I turn to you...
Thanks robsamui! I have been looking at the regulations every day for a couple of weeks (want to go to koh phangan in Nov--What you say is all true and well laid out. You don't mention that there is no visa needed if only a 45 day trip. I want to stay 2 mon so do need a visa...but what kind I have not figured out since there are a couple that 'sound right'. Sigh--might be too complicated this year......
You don not need a visa for up to a 45 day stay? Has this changed?
There's only one visa to choose from if you are going to stay 60 days. That's the 60 days tourist visa. It can be extended 30 days at the local immigration office. But this was pre-pandemic and no one knows when it goes back to normal. It might not happen this year. You can also go for the 30 days visa exempt which is also extendable 30 days. But again, this was pre-pandemic and might not be available this year because of the covid-19 situation. The now available 45 days visa exempt is the old 30 days visa exempt + 15 days quarantine.
The way I understand the Sand Box model is tourist who have been vaccinated only get locked down for 7 days and then can leave the island?
No, you need to stay 14 days in Phuket at the same hotel before you can leave the Island or change hotel. That's how it works at the moment.
Someone posted: "In October the requirements "might" have changed due to more people vaccinated and less (Fewer) cases."
But be aware that because more people would have been injected by October, does not automatically mean there will be fewer positive cases.
Even if you have the experimental fluid pumped into you doesn't mean you or the millions who have, are magically immune and you and your friends are not still spreading the virus.

First, you are getting some good advice here mixed in with a few guesses and predictions.
There's no need to go to a non-governmental website where facts are mixed with opinions and then you are forced to sift through them to gain the information you need.
This is the Thai Embassy page for the Phuket sandbox program.
https://thaiembdc.org/phuketsandbox/
Please take note of this text copied from that page:
• Must stay at a hotel that meets the "SHA " standard for at least 14 nights.
• Must stay at the same hotel for at least 7 days and may change after that (the hotel must be in Phuket only)
• May travel to other parts of Thailand after 14 days. Departure earlier than 14 days is possible only for destinations outside of Thailand.
Also take note of what the official website says about step 4 when you arrive on Phuket:
"Wait for the result of RT-PCR test in the hotel room. If tested negative, then you will be allowed to travel in Phuket.”
So as some have said, this scheme may fall apart as overall infections rise, but it would probably (now I'm guessing) simply revert to the previous plan before the sandbox was initiated; where a person could stay in quarantine for 14 days inside the same hotel, and then be free to leave the hotel.
You are correct and it's as Leeds has said that you can enter under a 45 day visa exemption, which is actually a 30-day exemption that has been temporarily expanded to 45 days because of quarantine requirements, but is also legally set to expire in September, unless the government chooses to extend it after that.
Also, as I mentioned to you in your other main thread, if you are planning to stay longer in Thailand, you will then apply for the actual tourist visa (an exemption and a Visa are NOT the same thing).
And no you cannot fly into Bangkok and then fly to Phuket or anywhere else, and you can only fly into Bangkok from certain locations under certain restrictions.
See the information on that page where it specifically says that if you want to go to the Phuket sandbox program, you must fly directly into the international airport there.
It is still possible to fly into Bangkok on a Visa exemption (with a few hotel options in Pattaya available), but there you definitely have to be quarantined in your hotel for 14 days.
So no, you cannot fly into Bangkok and catch a connecting flight anywhere.
Your only choice is to be transported in an official and approved manner to your quarantine hotel.
Now at this point what many others have been saying about not coming is most pertinent.
Because even after you finish your 14 days quarantine, there will be many areas in the country where you simply will not be allowed to travel, no matter what your vaccination status.
So you might be going to Thailand with dreams of traveling around the country and seeing the sights, when in reality you'd simply be stuck in Bangkok/Pattaya with very few other options.
Added:
You (OP ”Walt") might be allowed to travel to Krabi after your 14 days in the Phuket sandbox, but again, that's pretty much unpredictable given the fluctuating covid-19 situation.
In other words, it's highly doubtful you could plan ahead for that.

If thinking like you,then no one can go anywhere in the world. But people do and people will.

Thanks free much for the clarification.
On that point I was going by advice I have been given from an expat in Thailand, but I just double-checked on the Thai website, and you are indeed correct.
You can fly into Phuket providing you are vaccinated, stay 7 days in Phuket and then move on to Krabi, Koh Samui or several other islands.
The 7 7 has just been approved as previously you would hav to have stayed in Phuket for 14 days!!
Contact your nearest Thai embassy for all the details but it is not as difficult as people seem to interpret.
Hope this helps.

No. That's incorrect. See my post above and also see the information here on the official Thai Embassy website about the Phuket sandbox.

After 7 days you can switch to another approved hotel if you want and for the entire 14 days after you test negative you can travel around on Phuket.
But you cannot leave for 14 days.
If you have a different official source to share other than an internet forum rumor, please share the correct official information link here

You no longer need to stay in Phuket for the 14 days, you can now leave to Krabi, Samui etc after 7 days. This was released yesterday morning.

I have already posted 2 articles about it. And it started August 16.
Transportation question:
Are there ferries or speed board running between Phuket and Krabi or mini vans? Cost?

Why don't you click on the link to the second article I posted the other day? There's a map showing how you get from Phuket to the other 3 provinces in the extended sandbox-program. You seem a bit helpless.
You sir seem to be a bit angry..Why is that? If you would like to assist a fellow member that's great but keep the critisium to yourself...Really!
Everyone else thank you and I will work tirelessly to reach approval from this guy.
