volunteering anywhere in thailand without paying some organization?

Hi!

My wife and I will be in Thailand indefintely. Some time in Bangkok and some up north. Is anyone aware of a way we can get involved with community projects on a local level? We recently spent time in some Favelas in Rio de Janeiro hanging out with kids and doing some english teaching, playing soccer, donating some shoes, and just hanging out really. We want to avoid major organizations that ask us to pay a bunch of money. Does anyone have any contacts or know of how we should go about getting connected with a project? We have time and energy. Just want to help.

Thanks!

John

First do a check on your visa. CAN you work or volunteer on your visa?
Very few visas allow you to do voluntary work or otherwise, if you work or volunteer you may invalidate your visa.
DON"T think they will not know - there are many lovely Thais but there is also the percentage that don't like foreigners and they may think you are taking a paying job for a Thai, so be careful.

There's a Non-immigrant volunteer visa. Normally you must work for an organization to be able to apply for that visa, and that makes sense. But forget everything about being a volunteer during the pandemic. You can't apply for the volunteer visa. It's not available at the moment.

And if they catch you .... they will deport you they are very serious about their visa system .... do not play stupid that will win no points ... you will have to find an organization that will support your volunteer visa application first ... then maybe you will be granted a volunteer visa ... maybe ... too many thai are currently unemployed so need any sort of work ...

You can't apply for a Volunteer-Visa during the pandemic anyway. They aren't available.
