Can attest to that.. An Phu committee is terrible.
Here we register many times and still waiting, today a management tell residents in one block to report for vaccine.. so they go, get there and are locked out because they have run out of vaccine doses... Fair enough until the reason for the shortage is another residence nearby contact and offer to pay 200k per resident for the vaccine.. and committee officer or at least person in charge agree
As far as I am aware of is that the 200k was for private service meaning they come and vaccinate you at your place and monitoring you for half an hour for side effects then prepare and issue official paperwork. And not necessarily 200k to buy the vaccines. Vaccines are still being pre-allotted by local officials based on registration.
I know a local celebrity signed up for this service days before and received a confirmation for home vaccination.
Hmm seems odd then that those scheduled to go from here were told no vaccine available followed by gates being closed.
Whatever happens will happen I guess..
As Doris Day sang "Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera"
I live in Phu My Hung and registered 4 days ago , And I was informed to take the shot this morning and I heard the residents in the whole building are vaccinating this morning . Nobody charge us , the doctors and other service staff are really kind to us. Thanks Vietnam people and government..
More Vietnamese will be vaccinated, and the more infections there will be, because if you ask them, they are convinced vaccine prevents contamination. So logically they will be less careful after their shot of astra.

In the street I live in which is a dead end street, just about everyone has had the vaccine, in the last 2 weeks many families are starting to wonder out into the street to sit and look at phone and get some fresh air, let dog or kids walk around, sweep the front of house, wash scooter, all of them without masks on.
They are starting to go out of the street multiple times a day (with a mask) one couple came back with a carton of Tiger beer no food, so they have stopped listening to the lockdown and just go out when they want for non essential stuff, the guy next door goes out on his bicycle for a ride around at least 5 times a day and comes back with small bag of some snack.
The house that has red tape at the back in the small alley and is stay at home F0 walk's out to get food 2-3 times aday out the front of the house in main entry ignoring they are locked down in isolation.
The people next door stand and talk to her in the street while they wash their bike or sweep the front of their house, wearing boxer shorts and nothing else,, covid? they have had the needle they are all safe now.
Are they double vaccinated ? Or still the first shot?
As a warning 40 million in the UK are vaccinated and still they record 30,000 new cases daily.
And now there is talk of boosters.... So here first dose is a good step but of course that isn't enough.
I also noticed today on CNN the Chinese vaccine has faded out off effectiveness after 6 months.

You're making a prediction based on no actual knowledge but rather prejudice. It is invalid to extrapolate what you imagine the views of some would be to the entire populace.
I would think that some people would be careful and some would be less so, but I expect that with foreigners, too.
Updates for An Phu next round of vaccinations due to start tomorrow, but the vsccine being offered is the Chinese Sinopharm variety.

I'd choose to wait if there were a likelihood of a higher-rated vaccine in the near future.

Just been out to put rubbish out for collectors, 1 guy cleaning front house no mask, lady chatting to him lives 4 doors down no mask, guy walking up down street swinging his arms in circles with mask on his chin,,, not sure if incase police come in stret he can move it quickly or to keep is chin warm from the wind generated by his twirling arms?
Im shocked by the numbers in HCMC last night how can so many get it when the city in lockdown?
GF says President mentioned Sept 19th was lost in translation something about a big effort? or big push? strong more?
Looks like we COULD be in for another 4 weeks of even more tougher action?, was on "tuoi tre" so VN news site maybe Ciambella can have a read and post a better picture of what was said.

s.
Yes but deaths rerecorded from Covid are right down now in UK now & how many of the 30,000 are vaccinated or non vaccinated.
I saw a graph on BBC showing the red line spike in Covid infections compared to deaths & even at its recent peak at 50,000 a day noted infections deaths were right down & far as I hear & read coming out of UK there have been no noted deaths in people having had the 2 shots of Astra or any other vaccine being given in UK.
Far as I am concerned I know that I can get Covid after the Jabs & dont worry about it. Long as it gives me a good chance of not dying that's the Bonus.
Thing is.........after having the vaccine & subsequently getting Covid could be a win win situation as on top of the Vaccine your body will have successfully fought it off & be better for it in the future.....right https://graphics.reuters.com/world-coro … d-kingdom/

Just about all street ony 1st shot.
“If you ask them”? Have you asked them? Are you not in lock down also…or have you received the vaccine and feel it’s ok to do surveys?

There does appear to be changes here too, those that have vaccine already seem to be oblivious to what it's does..I see people heading off to the gym today..
Groups of men meeting in random places in their cars.. no masks
Lunch eaters walking around as if covid never happened.. swigging or eating as they go

As my GF suspected:-
Vnexpress
"is possible to extend the distance until September 15'
According to Mr. Phan Van Mai, it is expected that in two days Ho Chi Minh City will announce its Covid prevention plan in the next 30 days, the spirit will continue to distance according to Directive 16."
Looks like it will be another 4 weeks guys.
Story in tuoitre.vn says police are starting to scan peoples phones that looks at QR codes can track where you have been to see if you are sticking to the lock down or not,,, if President wants lock down harder then next step will no doubt be big fines so the word gets out, "stay at home or else"
As I said earlier people in our street are going out multiple times a day coming back with a bread loaf or some tiny bag with a snack or drink.

Here's my translation, not the entire article because there are many repeats, run-ons, unfinished sentences, and irrelevant information (I would be shocked if there aren't.)
"In order to vaccinate the population the fastest way, the new PM said that it is necessary to implement a 'tripod' program. This program will synchronize the buying and importing, the technology for the transfer, and the research and production of domestic vaccine.
The slogan for domestic vaccine production is 'Must Discuss and Can Do'. The PM stressed that 'What the government says will be done, it's not an empty talk.'
Emphasizing the high determination in research, transfer, and production of vaccines in Vietnam as soon as possible, the PM requested all agencies to be 'timely, safe, and effective', and to minimize administrative processes and procedures. However, in terms of expertise and science, everything must be precise and accurate, appraised by competent scientific and professional agencies, and meet two requirements: 'safe and effective', as proposed by Resolution 86.
He affirmed that he is ready to work day and night with relevant agencies to achieve all of the above goals.
Accordingly, the PM asked MoH, MoST, and relevant ministries and councils to 'roll up the sleeves' to guide the process and procedures, immediately find the solutions for obstacles, and not allow bureaucracy to jam the progress.
'We all have tried but we must try harder; the ultimate goal is that Vietnam soon will have a self-produced vaccine. If all goes well, we can have that this September.'
Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam said that although he had negotiated with many partners, only about 3 million doses of vaccine were sent to Vietnam in August, not enough to meet just the needs in Saigon alone.
The government projection shows that 9.3 million doses will arrive in September plus 60 millions after October for the last quarter of the year. By that time, technology for the transfer projects will also come into operation and the domestic vaccine will complete the clinical trial process."

Well that explains the 40 min conversation trying to find out what she was trying to tell me something about a big effort? or big push? strong more?

In her defense, it's not an easy article to sum up in a few sentences. She's correct in saying there's going to be a big push and big effort, and something will happen in September. The "strong more" must have been her version of what the PM said, "We all have tried but we must try harder."
Nothing will change until people stop breaking the restrictions. Things like this dont help Early market
I still can't figure out why these checkpoints are not operating 24-hours a day.

That is in Hanoi. Is there indication that it is happening here, too? Does it spread by word of mouth? I guess commerce will not be denied.

As my GF says on many occasions it's Vietman people fear no food more than they fear police so they will go get what they want when they want by every small back alley, lane they can to get where they want to go and they have to make money to buy their food so they will ignore any thing said to go around and sell by any means they can, shops she knows well she just stops at the door shouts "chi oi" and the door slides open enough to order and pass money, thats the VN way.

The last time I was out shopping I saw that one of the storefront shops had their sliding barrier open a little bit and I saw a person go to the opening and call in. I've lost several lightbulbs during this lockdown, and If I knew they sold lightbulbs I would have done the same, but I doubt they do.

You mentioned it was in Ha Noi, last time I looked Ha Noi is in Viet Nam and this thread is about Viet Nam. So not sure what point you were trying to make.

I didn't make a point, I asked questions about the situation in HCMC. I was wondering if what you posted was happening here, too. The article you linked was about Hanoi only.
Do you somehow believe I was disagreeing with you?

It wasnt posted on the HCMC forum, so how can I know where "here too" means.

I'm in D2 HCM and still occasionally see the odd street food seller..
So I guess yes to a lesser extent it happens in HCM.

Street food seller meaning someone selling people prepared food? That's not as much of a concern to me compared to illegal markets where large numbers of people crowd around each other.
I've seen the occasional seller here in Binh Thanh open their door a crack and hand out food on the sly, but there are no lines and no crowds. The only lines I see here are at the groceries.
