Student visa renewal

Post new topic

KAIS_90

My student visa will end at august 1st. However, my residence permit will end October 31st. Since I have summer exams (bad student I know) I can’t get the re-registration from the university until mid September. I was planning to go home after the summer exams. But now, I am torn since my visa expires before I leave, what type of consequences to my stupidity do I need to deal with? And what is my best option, waiting here until I renew it or just go home and renew it there?
Thank you.

Concerning student visa, I will like to confirm if anyone here was told it was compulsory to legalize school transcripts (after certificates have been legalized) in order to apply for study visa to Belgium?

Thank you for your anticipated response

I believe you can renew your residence permit as long as you do it one month before it expires, so end September. If you could manage to go back home in September after your exams and come back to Belgium for your appointment at the city hall (the last week of September) it should be fine. Normally you do not have to renew the visa itself, its the residence permit that you have to renew. This is all based on personal experience so I suggest you check with your commune as well. It also depends on your nationality.
