Online elementary school

Post new topic

cindyscruise

I have a friend in Miches and she is looking for an online school for her 8 year old daughter. She wants her daughter to have an English education. She had attended an American school on Punta cana but it closed with the pandemic.  Living in Miches there are no private schools. If you know of a Good online one please post. Thank you

This is a good topic but maybe everyone is listening an no one is contributing.  I for one would like to hear people's experiences with home schooling.  What works what doesn't work.  Education here is terrible.  The high priced private schools are terrible.  I am looking to home school but like you I would like some references.  It is easy to research on the internet but its not so easy to get real life references.

Here is one link: https://www.nflcacademy.com/homeschool- … ition.html  There are many others...

Khan academy is another. https://www.khanacademy.org/  My son is using this in conjunction with his school classes so it is recognized by the education system.

This might help to get you started.

Thank you. She does not want to send her daughter to the local school

Both links are for home schooling...

I cannot offer anything on this thread, sorry.

Homeschooling is best anyway, cheaper, higher standards, etc. You ask yourself what you think your kid should learn, let's say how to read and write, for starters. I'll bet you can do that already. As you get more advanced than you are, let's say calculus , etc....then there are tons of online sources like Kahn Academy.

A friend of mine in the US found this one and loves it! She wasn’t comfortable with her son starting first grade with the remote option her local public schools were offering.

He went from struggling to read at the end of kindergarten to reading on a third grade level after finishing first grade with World School.

She and her husband have demanding careers, and she had an infant at the start of the school year, so they had a nanny who worked with her son on his schoolwork. A key to success with homeschooling is that the parents/teachers are just as dedicated as the kids!

Khan academy is a great resource, but it’s just supplemental, right? I don’t think they are accredited, or even have a program for a full home school curriculum.

I gave Kahn academy as just one example of online ed that does a better job than most schools in some subjects, not as an entire edu replacement.

Hi

I thought I would check out this place but its not an academic school and it starts at $300 per month.

Look as this from the FAQ: its almost a joke!

What is your curriculum?

We are a democratic-inspired school and so our curriculum is determined by the students.  If you are looking for a traditional school, where students have homework, assignments, and tests, then we are not the school for you

How much is tuition?

Tuition varies according to location and term, but tuition starts as low as $300 USD/ month.

Sounds like they just collect the $300 per head and let the kids play.

Definitely not what she is looking for.  It does sound like a joke.
