eTicket requirement being enforced!

Looks like after months of planned deadlines, the eTicket is finally being required and its use is being enforced! I only have experience with American Airlines, but I know that they have been listing it as part of their flight readiness checklist for a while.

Plan ahead and don't wait until the last minute to try to do it on your phone!

About time.

You can't travel to the USA and Europe without all the proper documentation in place so why not here?

Immigration is coming out of the dark ages bit by bit.

Delta Airlines is also sending daily email reminders to do it before your departure date. I’m traveling next Thursday and completed it.

Also, there is a fake website being circulated, that looks exactly like the official one.  The e-form for Migration is free, you do not have to pay a peso.  So if you are asked for payment, you are on the wrong site.

Here is a first hand story.  Myself and girlfriend were going to POP this past May.  You could do the e-ticket, known as a QR code, or you could get the paper immigration form on the plane of when you land from immigration personnel.   We went to check in with American that morning and were refused boarding because we did not have the QR code, and agent did not know the rules.  Missed flight, huge mess with plans, lots of extra time and money spent, letters to American Airlines, etc.  Went two days later to STI, without the help of American Airlines, thank you very much.  Best to just do the QR code prior to leaving, and there is also another one for departing the DR, but they don't really look at the departure one much.

While the E-Ticket has been possible for some time,  paper was still possible back in May.  That seems to have finally changed now.

Now it seems that only an E-Ticket will do, but I don't have personal experience with flying for over a year now for reasons not related to E-Tickets..

Somebody posted the link to the English eTicket form recently.
I can't seem to find it and would appreciate if someone could post it again.

It's the same link posted at the top of the thread. You just have to choose English instead of Spanish.

JetBlue doing the same thing....reminder emails in advance and they walked the QR code around on the plane before leaving JFK so you could fill out the form and get your code before departure.

Delta Airlines would not let you on the plane without it.
When I arrived in SDQ no one asked to see it or scanned the QR code. Departing from SDQ same thing no questions or scanning of the code.
On check in at the Delta Airline counter they asked for my negative COVID results, but when I arrived in the US no one asked for the results.

The DR is relying on the airlines to ensure completion of the eTicket before boarding. Hopefully, you were not asked for the paper immigration and customs forms in SDQ since the eTicket covers all that information.

On departure from SDQ, the return eTicket should be linked to your passport, so they know it's been completed.

For COVID testing, there is no reason for the US to check it after you land because they are also relying on the airlines to ensure all passengers have a negative test prior to boarding. The airlines have to provide proof that they have results for all passengers.

We are flying to the DR at the end of October. How far in advance can you complete the eTicket application ?

parrottguy1

Yes.....there is a fake e ticket application online....I fell for it twice until I hit a pay line....then exited that immediately and then found the real one....crazy!!!

Check the FAQ's for any questions you have on how the process works.

https://viajerodigital.mitur.gob.do/english/

It's 72 hours before your flight.

legs208

I did mine 48 hours before the flight and saved a copy to my wallet on my phone as cell/data service can be sporadic.

DRVisitor

Yes being enforced but makes things much better and quicker. You can do before hand and save the code to sign back in or download it at end.

I am not sure how they are tracking what your bringing besides usual scans before leaving.

Denlevi

I'm getting ready to leave the DR. to the states..........Was wondering how they send you the QR code?......Thru email? or i-phone? For reasons I won't go into, I don't have a cell phone. Thanks in advance!

Karin1

You get an email or you can download it if you use a computer or phone.  Then you can print it and bring it with you.

Pnaylandr

Once you complete the e-ticket online you can print it. I haven’t ever had it emailed to me. I always screen shot on my phone or print for a hard copy

Denlevi

Thanks for your replies everybody.......It really cleared things up for me!

LT American

i would print the form out and bring it with you when you check in at the airport.  Last year, I submitted online and printed out the form. When I arrived at the airport in the USA, the online form had not gone through the system.  The guy at the check in counter took the printed for and I was on my way!  Leaving the USA in about 3 weeks for the DR.  I am definately taking the form with me

Denlevi

Sounds like a good plan.....Thanks for the advice!

sberger50

Best thing is to do the e-ticket prior to leaving the states, and then you can print both entry and exit e-ticket QR codes.  Last month there was also a form that American Airlines also had us fill out at the airport.  Another form for covid, even though we just had the 24 hr test result.  Getting very difficult to travel even with vaccine card and booster shots.  Almost not worth it anymore.

After my first experience of using the e-ticket, I must say it is an excellent.

I loathe filling the paper forms in all the islands and DR is now a big step ahead. Providenciales, TCI, my destination this week still have two paper forms on arrival.

It is speeding up passing immigration too. A swipe of your passport and the officer has it all. It is the airlines that want to see proof you have filled in the e ticket.

Lots more correct information on each arrival - well at least if you fill the form correctly and honestly.

Big step forward.

Question - does the e ticket (qr code) have to be filled out both ways - arriving and departure? I usually fly same airlines and when leaving they never check but with Jetblue they checked both ways.
Tippj
They’re supposed to ck your e-tix at boarding every time you embark….. the only problem I saw with this is the passenger at the DR airport (POP ) couldn’t find a signal for the internet to fill it out on there phone , lol but I do believe it’s here to stay
ddmcghee

@DRVisitor  American Airlines has been requiring it both ways.

DRVisitor
@ddmcghee

Do they accept just one e ticket - ie filled out for coming in for both ways or need it two different one incoming and one outgoing?
Guest2022
Inter Caribbean did not check both ways. The immigration officers were not interested either. With a swipe of your passport they see all.

There were a bunch of people denied passing through immigration on departure frantically filling forms with cell phones. I believe I saw pc stations too.

On arrival the officer asked me to confirm my address verbally. My guess is that this will go into foreign resident regional database. Where I live has a sub division most would not recognize but it comes up when filling the form so I had to tell her it was near Sabana Grande de Boya which she did recognize.

Customs have a QR scanner scanner but all bags get x ray scanned anyway.
Guest2022
One of the steps in the e ticket filing asks if it is for arrival or departure, so can't see an option for both ways and anyhow arrival is different with customs declaration. How can a Dominican honestly make a customs declaration returning to DR before they start their vacation?

- @DRVisitor

Two are needed.  One for each direction.

You should not need a hard copy or phone copy because it is all tied to your passport and the agents can see you filled it out already.

But, you never really know for sure if you will need other proof.
LT American
Do USA citizens need an eTicket to return to the USA? All that I found was covid test requirement.

- @LT American

The E-ticket is required for all passengers entering or  leaving the DR.  One E-Ticket for each direction. This is a DR requirement.

So the answer to your question is yes.

For US Citizens an Antigen quick test is needed the day before going to the USA.
WillieWeb
@LT American

Technical answer ....NO... not needed to enter USA

You need it to leave the DR........... the form never leaves the country
LT American
Do you fill out the same eTicket form online that you fill out out to enter the country...

Just exit information?
legs208
sticker is required for entering and exiting the country, same website location but need do complete 2 forms. If I remember correctly, each needs to be completed less than 48 hours before entering or leaving. I guess you can complete both before you travel if you have a very short trip.
huddleston1
Yes, it’s the same form. Make sure to select DEPARTURE. Last year I mistakenly selected ARRIVAL and even though I was obviously departing they would not accept it and we had to redo the form. Totally my fault. Not a big deal except we were cutting it close to catch our flight. Back to the end of the line. Lol.
WillieWeb
Form offers two options.....

Arrival
Departure
LT American

@huddleston1 thanks, I have lived here over 2 years and have not filled out the eTicket when I return to the USA. Will do so now

I'm having trouble finding the e-ticket online - and didn't see it listed above. Can anyone provide? I don't recall needing one last Aug when I came home from Canada into Santiago on American. Flying West Jet into POP this year in early Aug. Thanks
