Hi Martin,

We attended the gala dinner (a buffet) at La Pirogue last year at Wolmar. Really enjoyed the meal and fireworks thereafter...

I don't know whether they will organise one this year (most probably yes as nearly all hotels on the island).

What region of the island will be best for you ? By the end of this month/beginning of December, you will see lots of advertisement for new year's eve dinner

Regards,
Anou

Hi there

New Year's eve is celebrated in family. Families gather till past midnight, having dinner (barbecue etc) listen to music, alcohol. Midnight, they will wait for the countdown to light firecrackers. Tradition is to light firecrackers the big ones, the loudest the merriest...the more flashy etc.

Some people prefer to spend New Year's eve at hotels (buffet, fireworks, music will be on the menu).

Some new year's eves are more quiet than others (financial reasons, family mourning the loss of a dear one, illness etc). Overall, it gets pretty loud at midnight... If you have dogs/cats, make sure they are kept inside and safe.
