Although I am not new I would like to express my warmest appreciation for England and it’s lovely people. God bless you all. I can honestly say that in 19 years no one has ever been rude to me. On the contrary the people who I know and come across are kind. I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to people in Bildeston (Suffolk), especially my very kind neighbours, Linda and Jean.

I am James.  I presently live in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA, and, after visiting China in 2020, I would like to put another continent under my belt, and what better place to move than another English-speaking country?  My academic training is in Psychology, Neuroscience, and Computer Information Systems.  So, I wonder if I can find a job in the UK in one or more of those fields.

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

If your profession is in the Healthcare sector, then the UK NHS have a website devoted to this; this link will take you there.
Other than this, you will need a work visa, there are many different types, the UK Government GovUK website has all the details; this link will take you straight to it.

If you have any further specific questions, then please come back to us.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Thank you for the warm welcome. Hope you all are doing well.

I am a British citizen and I am recently married to an Indian citizen. I will be applying for his spouse/family visa. I have few questions as below and it would be great if someone can help and provide their valuable guidance.

Will I be the main applicant or my spouse?

I will be submitting my salary slips, bank statements, employer letter, marriage certificate etc. However does my spouse also need to submit all the above documents like salary slips, bank statements, employer letter etc. specifically because He is working in India at the moment.

Do we both need to show maintained money in each of our bank accounts or is it okay to just show my bank balance?

These are my initial questions, I may have few later.

It would be great if you could provide your guidance.

Thank you so much

Kind Regards,

Karuna

Hi Karuna and welcome to the Forum.

The details of what you have to do are on the UK Gov website; this link will take you straight to it.

To answer your question, your husband can apply based on his relationship with you, he applies based on the fact that his partner is a British citizen.  You will need to prove you're married, and that marriage is recognised in the UK (you should note that the UK does not recognise Sharia marriages for this purpose).

The rest is really quite straightforward and is all explained in the link.

Any Indian Government documentation you are asked to provide (like birth/marriage certificates) will need to be apostilled by the Indian competent authority responsible for that document. Looking forward, if your husband has any Indian qualifications and he is looking to work in any regulated profession in the UK (i.e. doctor, scientist, engineer etc), it may be worthwhile having any diplomas/certificates necessary for him to work in that profession apostilled at the same time and to ask the issuing authorities if they have any links to their relevant UK professional institutes.

I hope this helps.

Hello,

My name is Ursula. I am sociologist and career coach. I currently live in Ohio and exploring a 6 month move to Leeds (on a visitors visa). Ideally however I will find a work sponsor.

I was tenured professor for many years. So, I am looking for jobs in university teaching, research, and advising/coaching students.

I would be grateful for any tips on my best next step.

Thank you.

Hello everyone! Nice to meet everyone on this forum.

My nephews from London and I sometimes went there for the summer. And now I think about a full moving, but I don’t know where to start, ahaha. A difficult solution with complex actions, I think.1f601.svg

Cheryl

Hello willsonredl,

Welcome to Expat.com 1f601.svg

What will you be doing there for a living? Do you have an idea if your field is in demand or not? Also, if they are more likely to hire foreigners for that job?

I invite you to read the Living in England guide for expats.

Should you want to discuss any topic, feel free to start a new thread on the England forum to ask your questions. 1f609.svg
