Is this gross salary enough for single permit in Brussels?

A company has offered me a contract with monthly gross salary equal to 3500 euros. Multipled by 12 this gives 42,000 annually.
This falls slightly short of the minimum salary threshold for a foreign highly skilled worker in brussels, but I've seen that the annual grooss income is calculated by multiplying the monthly amount by 13, not by 12. Is this correct?

Yes, the salary is calculated by multiplying the amount by 13,92. Additionally, if you have employee benefits as an extra, such as private health insurance, pension account, company car etc. the employment office adds this into calculation as well.

In order to add the employee benefits into the calculation, the employer needs to calculate and mention their worth in the contract.

It should be but I am not sure.
It might be stated in your contract as double pay holidays and end of year bonus.

Did the company offer you extra legal benefits? Such as company car, meal check etc.

The contract says there are additional benefits as per their collective agreement, but it doesnt say in detail what these are, or the value thereof. I guess these cannot be counted toward the threshold this way, right?

Yes, if the value is not stated then the office won’t take it into consideration. However, I am pretty sure that they will calculate by multiplying the amount by 13,92.

Yes you are right. I want to answer you becaue I was also looking for someone to guide me when i came here.

Salary is 13 times plus check with HR for other perks… bonus(profit sharing), meal vouchers, phone postpaid, insurance etc…
But still taxes are very high. You ll pay atleast 30%, of married then less around 20% or less if registered as expat.
Check with hr for which status you can apply.. resident as expat or resident without expat status.

Your salary is actully less to average salary. Check with hr or see only salary calculator how mich net u ll have.. i would say around 2200 to 2400. Which is on lower side.

When you are on the Belgian payroll, you will in'most cases receive 13,92 the monthly gross. The 0,92 is double holiday pay. Since you are only entitled to holidays the 2nd year based on the working days in the first year, you will only have the full gross as from the 2nd year.
For employees under 30, you only have to reach 80% of the gross in Flanders.
If you are detached, the ministry will do *12.
