The best age to move to Ecuador

Post new topic

Cheryl

Hello everybody,

No two people experience expatriation in Ecuador in the same way, depending on their age and personal situation. We would like to know more about you and ask you to share with us when you decided to move to Ecuador.

How old were you when you moved to Ecuador? Did you go alone or with your family?

In your opinion, was it the right time to move there?

Do you find this country welcoming for your age group or for certain categories in particular? Why or why not?

Are there any incentives (financial aid, lower taxes, etc.) and for which category of expats?

In your opinion, is there an ideal age to move to Ecuador?

Thank you for your contribution!

The ideal age to move to Ecuador is between 10 and 12 years old.

You don't have to worry at all about food, shelter and clothing, nor about any bureaucratic paperwork details - your parents have all that taken care of for you.

You don't have to worry about money - again, your parents will provide.

All you have to do is enjoy, and soak up the language and culture - which is what you've been doing up to now anyway.  You're old enough to notice many differences between your former life and this one, and young enough to learn quickly without forgetting your life in your home country.

You are too young to be a threat to anyone, so almost everyone will treat you with kindness and indulge you in just about anything, within limits.

But be warned - your experience may change your life in many ways.  You will be bilingual or at least on the way to being bilingual.  You will not take things for granted the same way you used to.  You will never look at the world and people in quite the same ways that you did before.

There is no “ideal” age. The ideal age for one is not the ideal age for another.

Our ideal age for moving to Ecuador is our ages next year, when we will both be retired and ready to leave the US of A.
