Bars close at 12 midnight

What's this again?

Owners of bars on Pedro Clisante Street denounce the National Police for ordering the closure of bars at midnight, the tourism office says. There is no new resolution at all stating that they should close at 12 midnight. It is good to know that Resolution 001/2022 of 04/11/2022, issued by the Minister of Tourism and the Interior and Police, is still legally valid. The authorities cannot order the closure of bars in any street in Sosúa, the police authorities must refrain from such acts. The catering entrepreneurs stated that they would go bankrupt in this way, as it would be impossible for them to pay the loans and financing they have. Especially right after the Corona crisis.

Agreements have been signed this afternoon....

ANNOUNCEMENT OF AGREEMENTS BETWEEN SOSUA AND MITUR BEACH SELLERS:

Thirsty. Given the conflicts that have been generated between sellers of Sosúa beach in the Puerto Plata province and the Ministry of Tourism, for the construction of squares in that area, in a press conference held this Thursday on the same beach Sosúa finally the pleyeros they show a signed agreement, where they set all the points.

They also said that three squares two of 150 meters will be built one in the north, one in the south and a third plaza of 75 meters in the middle.

The Players showed great satisfaction with the jointly agreed decision and pointed out that the authorities gave it a deadline of about 30 days in case some of the owners wanted to negotiate their investment. #WellingtonInTheNews @wellingtondjmOfficial

From Sosua News:

Ashoresoca is also happy that an agreement has been reached between the government and the Sosúa Beach Sellers Association. The beach of Sosúa has been a kind of public cabaret for years. The images appearing on social networks show Sosúa as a sexual paradise in the Caribbean. Prostitution and drug use have completely degraded the beach as a tourist destination. The government announced in June the investment of RD $600 million pesos for needed work in Sosúa, including the construction of the bridge, reorganization of Sosúa Beach and the construction of a plaza to relocate vendors in the beach area. Although the sellers claim that the reorganization of the beach aims to 'remove them to privatize the area', the tourism ministry has presented a project that does include them and the aim is to beautify the beach. All this for a better future for Sosúa with more tourists.

Sosúa will have a before and an after, that's for sure, but will the beach be more beautiful in the future without its typical casetas? In any case, it will lose its characteristic authenticity.

And the waiting continues. Latest rumor is the vendors can stay until the plazas are built. I am guessing except for those at are in the same locations as the new plazas.
