Hello Dwsses12,

It seems a bit fishy.

Have you contacted them?

Back in July you posted that you are looking for healthcare insurance . . . Where did you hear about "Health insurance called Retire in the Philippines?

ladykyle20

I've heard of that insurance. I've heard the rates are a lot lower than any insurance I've found in the US. I've heard that that insurance will extend your life expectancy if one ends up having to file a claim. It covers the following ailments: stress, financial pressure, homesickness, etc. My advice to all: look into getting it, you won't regret it.

@Enzyte Bob Bob, I’ve been following you since before I got here 6 months ago.  Health insurance for expats is confusing at least to me.  From what I see  most insurance for foreigners is pay first and the reimburse?  Do you or anyone have any real world experiences with expat insurance. Thanks much.

Enzyte Bob

I do not have any Medical Insurance that covers me in the Philippines. I maintain my Medicare with premiums deducted from my Social Security and my closest coverage is available in Guam.

PalawOne Googled it and found nada. Same for me too.

Yoginee also agrees with PalaOne, she said it sounded Fishy.

Yes, there are a lot of Fish between here and Guam.

ladykyle20 answered Dwsses 12: Saying they heard of that insurance,

Myself, any poster who joined the Forum yesterday I'm dubious of their opinion, they are here today and gone tomorrow. . . . . So Ladykyle20 where did you hear about this? . . . . . . From Dwess12?

Laymanm65: Yes healthcare seems to be confusing for many Expats on the forum. You mentioned pay first and and the reimburse. With Medicare there is no reimbursement. Some discussion of PhiliHealth has been on this forum and some have it, since I've had no interest in purchasing, the info went in one ear and out the other.

Everything seems to be heresay with regards to health insurance. I'd rather pay into my fare back home (as my insurance) to the US in the event I get into a dire situation.

Yes me too....for emergencies I'd use the flyingdoctorsasia app.

Sadly....March 2021 saw the death of high-wire walker Carla Wallenda.

I use Jonny cash with no need for bold typo Bob, safety nets are up to the individual choices and needs.

Cheers, Steve.

That's why I made references to the Flying Wallenda's. When they were falling . . . they were flying back to earth.

What would you say your medical expenses were since you moved to the Philippines? Did the local coverage, if any, help you at all?

Haha.. I think Dwssis12 and LadyKyle20 were being tongue in cheek - as in.. your health will indeed benefit by retiring to the Philippines, haha. I would agree that plan has many benefits, but not sure they will extend one's life. But the quality will probably be a lot higher, haha.

As to those ailments that do come along:

I pay cash for the little things, which are so reasonable in PI. No appointment nec, but you might have to wait awhile.

Keep my US healthcare plan - in case of something serious, and have Air Med coverage.. just in case.

Jackson4

One great thing with hospitals in the philippines is that the nurse aides, nurse assistants and nurses treat you better. I hope this still the case.

Some nurse aides and nurse assistants here in the US shouldn't be in healthcare.

pnwcyclist

I agree with that.

It's actually called WRLIFE. i read good and bad reviews.  Will keep searching.  I heard off cignaglobal, Aetna, Regency.  Will look into. I don't want to fly back to America.  Unless really need to. Have my wife and children here. But i am well off here in the Philippines.  So, maybe just keep saving $$

-@Dwsses12

I found the site of WRLIFE. I filled out the on line quote, for me: I chose $20,000 coverage with a deductible of $1,000, the price $341 a month USD. (For medical care in the Philippines.)

On the application no medical questions of current and past medical history, benefits are unrealistic to be true.

Will it cover my psychiatric in patient care in a mental hospital if I send money to them for coverage?

bigpearl

The reason I don't bother, these companies are scammers and aim their bullets at expats or locals foolish enough to spend dollars.

US 341 per month = 4,092.00 per year, some PHP 242K and add on the deductible? Another PHP 59K.

Best to have Phil health @ PHP 17 K per year and keep PHP 1 or 2 M invested earning interest (in your respective country) to cover medical needs.

OMO.

Cheers, Steve.
