We now live in Turkey for a little over a year and intend to stay much, much longer, I have heard about SGK and Private insurance (Allianz seems to be good), the initial quotes of private providers are quite excessive (being foreigners helped I think). EUR 500 per month (!!!) were quoted. (I am 60+ and my wife 50+ but healthy (I think).

Just curious on your views.

Depending on which country you come from and the bilateral agreements on social security and healthcare, you may be eligible to sgk protection, of course private hospitals provide much better care in that instance.
