Hi there. I'm a new comer to this platform, sending this message out from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. n honest remarks, I'm a job seeker and landed here after learning about expat.com. I came across a job posting for a housemaid and a cook. Trying to reach the person who posted it got me here. I request your kind assistance as to how I would be able to find a job offer in Portugal.

stephen50

G'day everyone I'm from Australia and we are moving to Portugal next year if they'll have us.

We're retired in our mid 60s.

Have an Australian Kelpie named Tilly and she's learning how to bark in Portugese.

Heading there myself in November for 3 weeks to check it out.

Looking at Northern Portugal as I've had enough Australian summers to last a lifetime.

Going to need advice on D7, leases and so on then we'll purchase a home

I'm sure you guys know what I need.

Cheers for now

@raheldemese1 Hello and welcome !

Hi Stephen50,

Nice to see you here, welcome!

Question: which reason make you to leave Australia and come to Portugal? Thanks for your reply.

Cheers.

TGCampo

After many years living in several countries all around the globe we made Portugal our home many years ago. Within the constraints that we ourselves this place was and is very good for us which mean for now there are no plans to move on.

Bhavna

@TGCampo hello and welcome !

It's wonderful to hear that Portugal has become your cherished home after your years of global adventures!

Hello,

We wish to spend some time in Algarve to benefit from the sun, the sea, and life with local people and expats, preferentially out of the very tourism season.  We are recently retired and are looking from activities and events allowing us to meet people, discover sites, landscape and places, for leisure and friendliness.

Cheers

Hi, Welcome.

In the Algarve there is a large community of French-speaking expats. You can try french forum as well:

There are also many companies that organise activities that bring together expats and tourists from various countries:

Hello!

I am Francesco from Italy.

I'm a medical professional holding two research Master’s degrees, but I haven’t specialized yet. I’m keen on launching my medical career in Portugal and wish to continue my academic journey as well.

Can anyone help me understand the necessary steps and requirements for foreign doctors in Portugal, along with any prospects for academic progression in the medical field?

I opened up a thread in here: https://www.expat.com/forum/profile.php … n=timeline

Thanks for the support!

@Julien Hello! I just joined expat.com today, suggested by ChatGPT! I am from the United States, currently living in Atlanta, GA, and considering a move to another country, currently researching Portugal. I am an independent hairstylist/hairdresser in the states, and am looking to connect with other stylists who have moved to Portugal. I need help with understanding what the process is to work in Portugal. I've been in contact with the VCTC and was directed to some links that don't actually discuss this topic. If anyone can help with this I would gladly appreicate it. Nice to be onboard expat.com! 1f642.svg

@stephen50    Hi Stephen, I saw your message. I moved here from the UK over two years ago. I have family in Sydney, Port Macquarie and Perth.  I seriously thought of retiring over there. However to take three dogs and the fact that my state pension would be frozen also the general cost of living being higher, put me off. So, I came here.  It is swings and roundabouts, some good and some not so good. Happy to answer any questions, if I can.

Good afternoon! (Boa Tarde!)

My name is Ben, and I am an American living with my partner in New Jersey. I just joined expat.com today. My partner and I are looking at immigrating to Portugal within the next year or so, and I have a remote IT job. Unfortunately, it does not meet the current income requirements for the D8 visa, but we are hopeful that the D7 visa would be an alternative option. We are learning Portuguese through audio books. I am an IT Engineer with a trade school diploma, and my partner is almost done with her BA in History. Looking forward to getting to know the community!

Hi Tony, I also am looking to come to Portugal, but from California my mountain home goes to snow in winter.  Had enough of working, want to play.. in shorts.  Pickleball is the aim.  Have 3 decades in residental construction so know something of that.  Good luck in finding houses to build.  On your off time maybe you join me on a pickleball court, if you are not careful, it could add to your fitness.
