Hi François,
This NHR status should soon come to an end. Stay informed about that.

Hey everyone, I am Duarte and I’m an associate professor o pedagogy. I was born in Portugal (Lisbon) 54 years ago, but I have been living in Norway for the last 30 years. I am, to a certain extent, a digital nomad. I work remotely as a lecturer (including some writing). During these periods I travel to Portugal and would like to make some friends - gender or nationality are no important to me. Just want to meet peolple to chat with/exchange life experiences. I’ll be staying in Algarve, but planning to drive to Porto.
Just send me a message if you are in a similar situation or just want to take a coffee.
Greetings
Hey there,
I’m Akash, and I come all the way from Bangladesh, but now I’m living the digital nomad life in Portugal. Over the past year, I’ve hopped through 13 different countries, and I’ve finally decided to settle down in Portugal, although not through the conventional D8 visa route, which I must admit, isn’t my proudest moment. My love for Portugal is deep-rooted, probably thanks to my crazy admiration for Rolando and a sprinkle of Pape in there. Anyway, I’m super excited to make some new friends here! 😄

Hello everyone! I'm an American in California. I love Porto and so, have bought a flat there in the Santo Ildefonso area in 2022. I go back and forth quite a bit and have decided to invest in something a bit bigger and outside of the historical center.
I'm planning on making an offer on a semi detached house in the Campanhã area that's designated as a ruin (but it's totally intact and has walls, floors, doors, windows, and roof intact...just holes in everything and currently such a dump 😂). I'm looking to connect with those who are going, or have gone, through the process of renovating a similar project for some guidance, advice and referrals on who to use in Porto.
I can't move to Portugal yet given my work background but would like to when I can retire from federal service in about 7 years. Looking forward to being a part of this forum!

Hello,
I live in Canada. I am partway through the process of getting a residency visa. I found accommodations (an apartment in Porto) and signed a lease agreement for 12 months, but I may have to go to Plan B. Eventually, I hope to live in Braga or a small town in that region. If anyone has lived in Braga, I would appreciate any advice.
Thank you to the organizers of this site and forum!

Hello,
I am Howard, an EU citizen (non-Portuguese, though) living in Canada, planning to retire in Portugal.
I will take the liberty of posting questions in appropriate sections - I would like to find out more details, primarily regarding taxation and health care.
Happy New Year everyone!
Hello I’m Lori. My husband and I are retired and are considering moving to Portugal, depending on the outcome of our next Presidential election in November. I am just in the preliminary stages of my research but my main question for now is, how early can you apply for the D7 visa if you are still unsure if you are moving? I would like to start the process soon because I am aware of the serious backlog. I know once the election is over and we decide we are moving out of country then we will want to move quickly and having the visa in place is most important. Happy New Year to everyone!
