Does anyone know of any motorbike / motorcycle driving school contact details.

Guestposter006

I asked my family here that question & they said NO - you just get your learners & learn. I already have my motorbike licence but wanted someone to reteach me how to ride in Mauritian conditions. If you find one let me know.

@shirley1421971 I`d love to assist :p

@shirley1421971 I was interested in a CBX250, late last year I called the dealer and they said there were no plans to bring them in. That may have since changed. A Vstrom 250 2023 model might be interesting, I don’t know if the 2023 model is here yet.

Hi everyone.

I have completed my A1 motorcycle license in december 2022 and now I am on course for the A2.

The driving test for motorcycle is the same for A1, A2 and A3 in Mauritius. Test is divided in 2 parts. First part is what they call the slow part. Test is done at Port Louis, Curepipe or Flacq and is divided in 3 sub tests : 21 seconds test, emergency braking and emergency avoidance.

Second part is the road test which can be done in Saint PIerre, Curepipe and I think, Flacq also.

I have my appointment for the A2 license in April 2023 and I'm going to do some practice in Reduit before going on the test. I use the markings which were used by a motorcyle school which doesn't practice there anymore. I definitly recommend running some practice before going on the test. Of course, if you can afford or feel that it is necessary for you to go with a motorcycle driving  school, I would definitly tell you to go for it.

Should you like to join me for some practice in Reduit, feel free to get in touch with me.

In fact, having other riders is good because then you can have someone taking your time when you practise the 21 second sub test and we can share some good tips and tricks between motorcycle riders :-)

Tchusssss !!!!

@Bhavna

Yes there are.

NAGA MOTO RIDING SCHOOL(Ark Driving Centre Co Ltd)

There was also Roz Hill motorcycle riding school but it seems that they no longer operate as I can't find their FB page anymore.

Anyway if someone want to know about the test and do some practice, just get in touch with me.

In fact, all information were passed on to me from a friend who took lesson with Roz Hill motorcycle riding school.

Hi @Hazelkay,

Unfortunately, the motorbike riding school in Rose Hill closed down.

I can offer my help, but I would like to know more about the layout change.

Also, which permit is he going on test in July : A1, A2, A3 ?

And when did he took his first test ?

The best thing would be to meet on a Sunday in Reduit and have a chat because if there is a layout change, I would also be interested to know more as I'm schedule for my A2 test in August.

Let me know.

@shirley1421971 I can certainly teach you to drive a motorbike in Mauritian conditions. The only place I have ever driven that respects motorcyclists have been Thailand and Madagascar. In Mauritius, assume every car driver is either willing to or not caring regarding  killing you. This is the same rules you would use in many countries.  Motorbike riding needs extra care in Mauritius, don't expect drivers to respect or favour you.

Look at least two steps or three ahead  and drive very defensivly.

Hello, I am interested in buying a 250cc bike but i havent done any test even for a 150cc. Is it possible to do the 150cc and 250cc bike tests simultaneously or within close proximity of each other, say 1 week apart. And how long after the tests is the license normally given?

Hazelkay

Hi,

You need to check with the traffic branch in Port Louis, but I believe the tests are about 6 months apart.

if you pass they will give you a paper so you can drive straight away, but will keep your license  to update it and give you a date for colletion, approx 1 month

@Hazelkay Okay, thank you
