Firstly, thank you to everyone that has provided info on thus forum.  Edpecially to @JohnnyPT. 👍🤗

This time I'm looking for legal rukes for POAs

(procuração).  I am not a resident of Ponta Delgada but I do have a tax number and own property with my mother.  Can my mother, who lives in Canada,  grant me her POA to me?  I will be traveling there in person.

Hi, Pscarson

I think your mother should draw up the POA in Canada and have it registered by a notary, then she should apply for the apostille at the Portuguese Consulate, which will give the POA the same value as a POA drawn up by a Portuguese notary. You can ask a Portuguese lawyer or notary for confirmation,

@pscarson,

Your mother can make the POA in one of the Portuguese consular offices in Canada. This should be written in Portuguese and clearly identify the type of representation powers she delegates to you:

Just to add to everyone's input.   I have heard back from the Portuguese consolate in Toronto.   Portuguese POA can be granted to me, a non resident.  Yes it is being drawn up in Portuguese and will be authenticated by the consolate.

Thanks everyone!!
