A friend of mine bought a used 4 wheeler (ATV, ‘quad’), what does he have to do to register it (get plates) and get insurance? He just has a tourist visa, although he is planning to married.

@Kurterino Assuming it can be licensed for the street, the easiest thing to do would be to put it in the future wife's name.

But then she is on the hook for the insurance and taxes.

It does seem to me I read somewhere on this forum a person said they managed to buy and license a car without being a permanent resident. But I thought that was not allowed. But it is Brazil so nothing really surprises me.
