Pension suspension

Post new topic

Sumomaster2004

Has anyone had their pension suspended because they didn't turn in the annual SSA-7162 from?

Michael9025

@Sumomaster2004 Yes

Sumomaster2004

How did you resolve it can I ask?

Enzyte Bob

Before anyone gets their feathers ruffled regarding form SSA-7162.

On failure to report:

This is a form mailed to you, as stated on form "Failure to complete & return in 60 days with supplied envelope"

I have never received this form mailed to me, considering I've been collecting SS for almost 19 years. I think people who receive this form is that the SS administration may feel the status of a person may have changed for various reasons, by reading the questions on the form.

Mostly per verbatim with with slight changes.

Q (1&2) Print your name and address if different as shown on this form. Telephone number where you can be contacted during the day. SS number, name & address of beneficiaries.

If you answer yes to the following questions, complete the form on the back and sign your name.

Q3 Has there been a change in your citizenship or country of residence that you have not reported to SSA?

Q4 Have you married, divorced or had an annulment since you last reported to SSA

Q5 Did you work for someone else or were you self employed?

Q6 Answer if you or the child live apart since you last reported the childs living arrangements.

@Enzyte Bob I sent the form back and they received it. How long do you think it will take for them to process it and send the money to my bank? It's a pain to try to contact them

Hopefully everything will get straighten out for you with no more red tape and get the money owed to you.

It says on the website, 7-10 business days. And yes, trying to contact them is ridiculous. 2 days a week, 3 hours each day, c'mon now. I also have never received this form, the whole time I've been here, almost 6 years now...

Probably a majority of us Expats are under the fraud radar guidelines. Somethings I can think of to put you on the watch list: mail returned by postal service, payments made to other people other than the SS recipient on your account (children, wife), stimulus or refund checks uncashed, a recipient outside the normal age (like 100 years old) will put you on the radar watch list.

Those are off the top of my head.

Sumomaster2004

@Enzyte Bob Yes the form was mailed to my old address in CDO. I live in Luzon now. They probably got my mail returned.

Michael9025

@Sumomaster2004 why do you think it's something else? And if so, what?

Michael9025

@Enzyte Bob of those, the only thing it could be is returned mail.

Sumomaster2004

@Michael9025 I'm trying to find out what to do to get it reinstated. To get my money.

Sumomaster2004

@Enzyte Bob thanks for your help Bob! The problem was the form. My account is active again.
