Air Filtration

Smog, pollution and dust. How to combat it without central air. Anyone set up any kind of air filtration system? Perhaps a large floor unit that can cycle the house air? I'm getting ready to build but I'm sure not going to install a central air system since no one is doing that here as I understand it.

If I recall correctly, member Enzyte Bob set up a nice homemade system to do just that.

Yes, I have DIY home made monster air purifier.

The basics, All parts can be bought cheaply on Shopee or Lazada.

(1) Buy a 20" box fan.

(2) Buy a large roll of double side foam tape.

(3) Buy the largest Hepa Filter available.

(4) Buy a 20" x 20" piece of corrugated cardboard or use any strong 20" x 20" cardboard you have on hand.

(5) Cut an opening in the center of the corrugated cardboard 1" smaller than the perimeter of the Hepa Filter.

(6) Use the double sided foam tape to secure the Hepa filter over the cut out opening in the cardboard.

(7) Secure this cardboard with the filter using the double side foam tape to the backside of the 20" box fan.

This replace my original design using a 20" x 20" x 20" balikbayan box.

(1) I used a similar approach using foam tape.

(2) I originally used the four sides of the balikbayan to hold the Hepa Filters.

(3) I mounted the box fan on top of the balikbayan box blowing the filter air up.

I also purchase four assembled air purifiers on Shopee, one for each bedroom. Cost ran at that time around P1,000. . .similar units at S&R were P5,000 each.

I don't believe the specifications of the square foot/cubic foot coverage of the commercial air purifiers. The intake of the air velocity does seem it's filtering a smaller area over and over instead of the whole room.
